Infected Incision, now Open Wound!!!

Unfortunately, I can't sit long at my computer looking up past posts about this subject. So please let me know of anyone elses experience with this. I had surgery on 6/23/03. The tumor was much larger than the dr expected and I had to be opened up past my belly button. One week post op, went in for staples to be removed only to wind up back in the hospital with an infected incision. They removed all the stapes and my wound is now open. I was in the hospital for 4 more days and they sent me home with nurse care to change and pack the wound twice a day. Now the surgeon has "closed" the wound by using really strong surgical tape. He did that on Mon. I have to go back to see him on Wed. The infection is gone, ordered to stop taking antibiotics and do nothing again. I'm really pushing it being on the computer, but I'm going nuts and need some advice.

Anyone else experience this! What did you do?

Thanks to all!

's and 's Luv, Jo

Infected Incision, now Open Wound!!!

Oh, I am sorry that you have to deal with this extra pain and discomfort. I have a seroma, but I think it may be a bit different. Please do a search under open incision, or seroma, or infected incision. I have a bikini cut and I have a little hole where the ooze drains out. I had the area packed for two weeks, now we are just letting it drain. I took antibiotics because I spiked a temp, but the area was never labeled infected.

Hang in there! Let us know what happens at your Dr appointment on Wednesday.
