"period" pain?

I am 10 days post-op and cramping just like I did when I was able to have a period. Is this normal? Last night I thought I would die. I got a horrible headache, lower back pain and my left legs hurt. It was the first time I took a pain pill since surgery. Today I started cramping again and ran to the bathroom to make sure I wasnt bleeding. A friend said she did this for several months after her TVH (but she talks alot...LOL). Has anyone else experienced this???

It would probably be a good idea to give your doctor a call, just to be on the safe side. Any new or unusual symptoms should always be reported.

Have you been doing too much? Overdoing it can bounce back on you in aches and pains such as you describe. Be sure that you are just resting and taking short, frequent walks. No housework, mowing, gardening, shopping, or bungee jumping!

Also, you may be feeling the effects of the anesthesia and pain meds leaving your system. When that happens, you may feel your surgery more, as up until this point, your body has been rather numb from the medications. In addition, your internal sutures may be dissolving, causing your healing tissues to take over the role of having to support your insides. That can also cause increased discomfort.

Again, it would be wise to call your doctor.
