MAJORLY FRUSTRATED...Need to Vent

Hi everyone... I went this morning to talk to my GYN and set up an appt for surgery....This is only the third time I'd seen this guy, and I firmly decided today that I DON'T LIKE HIM...He has the personality of a Pillar of Salt...and evaded every question I had....except to tell me that I now need to see a Urologist before he would do the surgery....and that I am going to be quite miserable since I'm having a TAH/BSO and gall bladder surgery at the same time....He really made me feel like I was putting him out by having to have so many different surgeons coordinate their schedules.....
I want this done and over with ....and now I am having to start again....waiting for appts....and for a surgery date...
My stomach is tied in knots....and I just want to cry.
I am so frustrated....
Thanks for letting me vent...
Huggs and prayers are with all of you
GOD BLESS

Find a new doctor...

Personally, I would go find a new doctor who's more sympathic to your needs. You're not going to be comfortable with this guy or trust that he's giving you the best care. Since this *is* such a major operation AND you're having your gall bladder removed as well, you need to make absolutely sure you're getting the best care possible. My surgeon for my first endometriosis operation was a real jerk (!) and it just added unneeded stress at I time when I already felt rotten.

Just my 2 cents...

MAJORLY FRUSTRATED...Need to Vent

Hello LA

Hang in there....It took me 3 yrs of pain, heavy bleeding and complaining before my DR did anything for me. It was only last year that he finally decided to do surgery to see if I had endo or what was going on. A whole yr later I am finally scheduled for my TAH on August 1st.

This might sound crazy, but why don't you try to find another DR that you will feel comfortable with? I know you probably don't want to go thru all the hassle starting over but it might be worth it in the end. Especially if this guy is a salt pillar....... I've never had major surgery before but from reading the things about this kind of surgery on the web cite, it sounds like you might need to find another DR.

Take care and best wishes

I, too, have had the "pillar of salt" dr., who did my laporascopy last fall. I decided that I was SO unhappy with him and the treatment I got from him, I switched to a new dr. (chief of ob/gyn) for my lap post-op, and following care. This new dr. did my TAH/BSO on 6/9, and then on 6/10 when it was determined that I was bleeding internally and needed emergency surgery, my dr. wasn't on call, but came in anyway, at midnight, to do the needed surgery. What a difference it makes emotionally when you are comfortable with your doctor and KNOW you're getting not only the best medical care, but also receiving some care and compassion.

It's never too late in the pre-op stage to change drs. The important thing is that you are comfortable and don't have doubts.

Good luck to you!

Find a new doctor! You're not paying this guy to be a jerk and being a doctor is more than just doing a procedure and walking away. A patient is not an object.

Etc. etc. etc. Whew! Talk about venting....

I travel 30 miles to see my Gyn. I moved and flatly refuse to give this guy up. I'm also going to travel over 50 miles to the hospital where I'm having my TAH next Tuesday. I'll go where he is and that's that.

Great bedside manner, caring, takes the time to answer my questions even if the waiting room is full up. Called his office once with a question, left a message and HE called me back personally. There are good doctors out there. Find one of them and tell the salt pillar to go back to med school.

Thank you all for your replies and the support...I have made an appt. with the guy who delivered my oldest son 27 years ago and my oldest daughter 21 years ago...The only reason my other children weren't delivered by him is because he didn't take our insurance that we had at that time....
I will be seeing him on August 5th and the General Surgeon for my gall bladder on August 6th..
Thank you again for all being here....I need to take a few deep breaths and trust that God will lead me where I need to be.

I also went back to the Doctor I had when i was Pregnant. I have to drive to a different county to see him also, but he is so worth it. The Doctor in my erea told me just to yank it all out, it wasn't like I needed it anyways. I thought I would just die when he said that. I'm 31 and it was hard enough for me to think I had to the surgery, but to have a Dr. brake it to me that way just made it worse. Im glad you found a new Doctor. Good Luck, and God Bless

pain in the hiney dr's

I have gone through several drs. I finally found a wonderful dr. I am having to travel 6 hours to see him. But boy is that worth the trip. Someone who cares and answers all your questions and is in no hurry and makes you feel like his only patient. That is the best medicine. I am having to travel the 6 hours down to surgery. I am not looking forward to the ride home......eeeekkkkk. I suggest you find a dr that you feel comfortable with. The stress about your situation will lessen 10 fold!
