Creepy Crawler leg stockings?!?!

Hello to all the lovelies...This site is amazing!!

I am off to the Palace on Monday ( 28th) for a TVH with a spinal/epi.... Not feeling stressed at all...I did get my period yesterday and thats a drag..only made it 12 days between them this month!! OH well..may as well go out with a bang as far as that is concerned!!

My question is..has anyone had to wear those stockings that massage up your legs every few minutes after surgery?? I cant imagine getting any sleep much less rest with them going off every 5 minutes..I know its to prevent blood clots and ok I can live with that..but are they a pain too?? I also forgot to ask my A man how long I will have to wear the beastly things..anyone know?? I wonder too how big the suckers are..will I be able to pull my pj bottoms over them?

Greetings from Canada..and no I dont live in an igloo..

Creepy Crawler leg stockings?!?!

I had to wear the white stockings with a hole (your big toe comes out of)...then they strapped on inflatable booties right before surgery! I liked them. Anyway, I just had to wear them the first day & night. I was so out of it... I could care less. Once you are up and moving - you can take them off. People love them or hate them. There's no gray area on this issue.

Creepy Crawler leg stockings?!?!

They put the hose on before surgery, then put the inflatable leg things on in the recovery room. I had an early morning surgery on Friday, and they took them off Saturday afternoon.

You won't be able to wear pajama bottoms over them, but you'll probably have a catheter at that point, so wearing bottoms won't work anyway. I agree with redzinnia -- you probably will be so out of it you won't really notice. Under normal circumstances I am a very light sleeper -- can't stand noise or light of any kind. But that first night, even with nurses coming in quite often and all kinds of equipment humming, I still was able to sleep.

So don't fret...it is important to avoid clots, and it will only be a small blip on the road to recovery!

Creepy Crawler leg stockings?!?!

Being that you are such a young spring you might not have to wear the white TED hose. I just had the little booties on my feet for the first 24 hours. My DS and I called them "fart boots" because of the little puffing noises they made. The were not uncomfotable and I slept just fine with them on. The bed I was in was an air bed and that made annoying sounds everytime I moved. I was glad to get home to my quiet mattress!

Best Wishes

Creepy Crawler leg stockings?!?!

Hi, I had the TED hose as well as the inflatable stockings.

I found them to be very comfortable, didn't bother me at all, and actually enjoyed the massage. They did get tiresome after the first day though, but only had them on until the next morning anyway.

I don't think they'll bother you. You'll probably be too out of it to even notice them much.

s,

Lisa

Creepy Crawler leg stockings?!?!

Aaahhhhhhhhhhh, the pulsating stockings....

I *loved* them!!! They were slipped onto My legs right before My kidney transplant, and every few minutes, a light massaging would commence for a few, then stop for a few, and so on. It helped tremendously. Not to mention is was an automatic massage!!!

They look hideous, but fit well under pj's, and they usually only stay on unitl you can get out of bed and move, which for Me, was about 30 minutes after I woke up. (I'm very impatient)

Look forward to them, darling... I do!!!!!

The machine that pumps the sequential compression devices up also has a cooling button on it. Make sure someone presses the cooling button, you will be much more comfortable.
