August 28th - confirmed date

Well, the doctor returned from his week off today and said the 28th would work. My first thought was, "Wow, this is really going to happen."

I had a long talk with the nurse who has been so very helpful to me... and asked a few questions.

The answer I like the LEAST was when I asked, "What time on the 28th" and was told that they will call me late on the 27th to let me know. WHATTTT??? They apparently do not complete the schedule until the day before, so they can schedule in the more emergent surgeries.

This doesn't sit well with me, Ms. "I want to have everything planned and controlled". Time to let go and let the Lord handle this :-).

I will go for my pre-ops on the 11th (coincidentally, my eldest's bday). An hour with the PA, half an hour with the doctor, half an hour or so with a nurse educator, then off to Admitting to get all of that taken care of and have my blood work, etc.

Every once in a while, I have this "unreal" feeling... I'm going to wake up and find out this is really just a bad dream and I don't have to do this, right?? LOL

Nancy~

You are not alone, I won't find out what time I am scheduled for until the afternoon before either.

Hang in there,

Hi Nancy, I'm like you, I like to pre plan and have everything ready to go well in advance. However, it's not always possible. I found out my time at my pre op - the day before my surgery. What threw me the most was them trying to post pone my surgery for 3 days - What?? I have help for my Dd , DH has arranged time off from work etc. I had my surgery as planned.
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayer for everything to go smoothly for you.
