Bears Game at 4 weeks post op?
My DH was given four free tickets to the pre-season Bears game this next weekend. Our DS has been asking to go for his birthday for months. So when these tickets were offered we gladly took them. Great seats, 40 yard line in lower bowl. It will be a two hour drive there, dinner and then the game. Anyway, I have been doing great with recovery, behaving myself, not overdoing it, feeling great. I can lay down on the trip over, I was planning on laying in SUV till game time and then again at half time. Am I crazy?

Summerbreeze
You definately should go. I went to a concert, not a rowdy one, it was Garth Brooks, (What can I say, I thought he was hunky in the day) This was 10 years ago. I went to this concert and I was about three or four weeks post op ( actually post post op, meaning I had the hyster, then days later had an infection that landed me in the hospital for a week and ended up taking out the infection and leaving my stomach OPEN and packed with gauze, lots and lots of pain, more than anything I've ever experienced, including the hyster and childbirth vaginal and c section and just about anything else that has ever happened, what I'm trying to say is , IT HURT REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD) and I really enjoyed myself. My husband and our friends babied me the whole time. The worst part of the experience was going up many steps, that I could have done without but I really wasn't in any more pain than I would have been staying at home. Take pain meds, be it tylenol or prescription before you head out because sitting in one position for a long drive may get uncomfortable, and take it slow. Don't let this pass you by. Enjoy yourself.
I hope you have a great day

You should definately go if you are feeling up to it. After my surgery was scheduled, my dh came home with news of a trip he won to the British West Indies. Prior to the surgery, I called my dr and asked if I should be able to travel and he said that I should be okay to travel as long as I took it easy and followed the standard no sex rules and no lifting rules. This was a 15 hour trip -- mostly on the plane or waiting in the airport for the next connection. Made the trip fine, was just tired upon our return home so I sat on my throne for a couple of days before returning to work part time.
Last weekend we took a trip on our Harley to Missouri about 3 hours. Made this trip fine also -- jsut a little spotting started on Monday. Had my 3 wk check up on Monday - dr says I am healing okay and oh boy -- I get to wait another three weeks before a total release.
My biggest symtoms from my TVH on 7/11 have been lack of energy and my bowel feeling like it is tied in 1,000 knots. Yesterday, I started taking vitamins with iron and calcium along with my multi vitamin and already feel a difference with engery level. The dr told me to drink more liquids for the bowel situation.
I feel very lucky to be getting along so well and I hope that you too can make the Bears game. Sounds like great seats and a lot of fun.
Good luck.

I'm four weeks post-op also (and live in Illinois, too). I'd go if Iwere you. I'm feeling really good and I can't see myself giving that up. In fact, in a couple of weeks, my family and I are leaving on a cruise to the eastern carribean (it's been booked since March before I knew I'd be having surgery). I can't wait!
