Fallopian Cyst

Hi, I am a 20 year old Army Wife and have recently been diagnosed with having a large mass in my pelvic area (9.7 x 7.8 x 4.4 cm). Until an appointment this morning, I believed it was ovarian. My doctor explained to me that because of the dimensions, it looks to be a fallopian cyst. I had never heard of this before. Well, I am one of those people who like to do lots of research, and I have not been able to find any informative websites. If anyone knows of any sites or has been through surgical removal of one of these things, please let me know. Thanks bunches.

Fallopian Cyst

Hi there!
I am 3 weeks post-op and believe I had the same thing. On the sonogram, a large mass was discovered, and it appeared to be on my ovary, but because of the position, and all the other abnormalities-fibroids etc , they couldn't be sure exactly.

It turned out that it was a large fluid filled cyst on the fallopian tube. So those things do exist! My dr. believes that it might have occurred because of previous infection and/or from tubal surgery I had many years ago.

In any case, I had a total hyst, not just removal of the mass. I havent received the pathology report, but if it reveals any interesting info, i'll let you know.

Since I always assumed mine was ovarian, I never did any research on tubal cysts either.

best of luck to you!

Fallopian Cyst

Hi, FistersGal,

I did a wee tiny bit of research after reading your post and found that yes, there are fallopian tube cysts and they are usually benign. http://pathologyoutlines.com/fallopiantubespf.html

Most of the sites I found were not user friendly to the non medical public.

Warm Wishes,

Lynn

Fallopian Cyst

Thanks for the info ladies...Shayna, my dr. also told me mine was more than likely due to a previous infection. As of right now, we are hoping and praying that I'll just lose my tube and ovary on that one side. And I would really appreciate you keeping me updated on your report. I'm a little scared, being that I have never undergone any type of surgery before. But I am SOOO thankful that my husband was sent home to be with me through this. Lynn, I appreciate you looking for a website for me. I will definetly be doing some serious browsing there. Right now, I don't have any particular questions, but I am ALWAYS open for new info. (I like to know exactly what is going on :-) ) Anyway, thank you both for your responses. Ooooh...I just got a phone call, 2 seconds ago, with my surgery date...12 Aug. I would appreciate prayers for my fertility if it's not too much to ask :-). Thanks again for your help.

(((Lauren)))))))),

The way I read your last post ,you are not having a hyst, just either a rso or lso?

Best wishes and I hope your other tube and ovary are ok , thus your fertility.

Good luck,
