Good morning gang!
Concert in the park got rained out last night, so dh and I decided to go to Friday's for dinner (fine with me......better choices than the Fried Food Palace). I had 1/2 a roasted veggie sandwich (brought the other half home) and the salad that came with it. Also ate half of black bean soup dh ordered (told myself beans are good for you!!) and a couple of bites of his steak and mashed potatoes. And most of a huge drink called the Ultimate Colada which went right smack to my head.........made it home in time to join Shirley and Sherry in chat though which was fun. Shirley asked if I worked out yesterday and oh yea you'd better believe it.........I hadn't been on an elliptical machine since I got up here.........just kept making excuses and putting it off. I know I'll be using them again when I get back to Florida so decided yesterday was the day. Hooked up my headphones, tuned in to Dr. Phil and did 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer and 30 minutes on a treadmill. Oh my aching butt.
CHRISTY -- a big WELCOME to you and glad to have you join us! This is the BEST place for support!!
DAWN -- how'd the new classroom work out?
XENA -- hang in there, as far as the stress, hopefully this will pass.......and if not I'm ready to take another vacation whenever you are
SHIRLEY -- so glad the new food is better! And really glad to hear you'll be able to add more foods back into your plan in a few months!
KATIE -- good to see you posting again and glad to hear that you're feeling better! You'll be back in full force in no time!
TAMARA -- wanted to wish you good luck with the new job!
SHARON -- this may be a dumb ???? but can you explain h-pylori?
SANDI -- DOGGIE???
NANCY -- are you done painting YET???
NEL -- don't stress about the 4 pounds........hopefully it'll disappear as fast is it arrived........
DANY -- exactly what does it mean to become a life-time member?
DESK -- if and when you read this know that we're all wishing you a safe trip!
Ok gang I'm outta here. Today is BodyPump day (yay!!) and there's a yard sale advertised in the paper that I want to hit either on the way to or after the gym. No plans for today so it should be pretty stress free. Food should be OP, since we're not going anywhere.
Everybody have a great day!!

Good Morning Everyone! It's an absolutely Beautiful day here in Mid-Michigan. The sun is out, my birds are singing, and the sky is as Blue as it can be. I'm done painting except for one small board that DH still has to cut out, but that won't take me long. DD is almost packed and I can almost see the corners of my house again. I've got dear old friends coming to visit over Labor Day weekend from Texas, So I'm excited. This could be a really good day for me. I love waking up in a great mood.
Christy, Welcome to a fellow Michigander. Midland's not too far from Flushing. (Although, with the interstate the way it is, you can't get there from here right now ). I hope you get your office in better ergonomic condition soon, and that it helps. Oh, and the ice cream is one of my favorite flavors.
Ann, Sounds like Friday's was a good choice, including the Ultimate colada. Good job on the eliptical machine. Yes, I'm done painting except for the one small board that isn't even cut out yet.
Bills, How's the headache today? Hopefully better. How is DBF's webpage coming?
Bliss, It's almost Fall, so it will soon be so very beautiful in Vermont. Just hang in there and we'll all be jealous of the leaves there.
xena, Sending you lots and lots of 's, for less stress. Oh, what kind of cheese would you like? You're allowed lots of cheese with the whine.
Sharon, Hope your nausea is better. I can understand how you feel with the trashed house. I will be starting to unclutter mine as soon as DD moves back to school and takes all her stuff.
Katie, Great job on the walk. It's good that it went well. I love my walks. They help to clear my head and de-stress me.
Tamara, I agree, that is the worst kind of shopping there is. In, Out, In, Out, In, Out. Makes me tired just typing it. School starts soon.
Sandy, Yes, DD and I had some nice quality time. I miss her a lot when she's gone. We've always been very close and have had a great relationship. It does get easier though each year. I got rained on too the other night, it was sort of fun in a way. Haven't done that it awhile. The dog thought we were crazy I think. But I agree on the thunder and lightening. No fun at all.
Nel (Lisa), Glad the manipulation seems to be working and is helping some. Don't worry too much about the 4 pounds, they will come back off.
Dany, Glad you stayed below you goal and are now in the last step of your maintenence. That's great. I hope your muscle fets to feeling better though.
EM, I love Elephant Ears (the food kind too) but I just don't have room to fring them in for the winter and it's too cold here to leave them out. You've gotta watch those buffet's. They seem to sneak up and get you, even when you're watching.
Shirley, Keeping you in my thoughts today. Let us know when you're back. I know your nervous. Just hang in there sweetie. Great news on the "only" 3 months for some of your food restrictions. You'll have some new freedoms there now.
Desk, You probably won't see this, but I'm glad you got to Floriday ok. Have a continued safe trip and give Nel a hug if your visit works out.
I'm off now to get some stuff done here like laundry and mowing. I think I might have to bale the grass. AT the very least bag it.
Have Outstanding Day's ladies!!!

good morning!
Hello to everyone! Thought i'd jump in here before the work
day starts. I normally start working about 9am. I feel really
tired today and not very motivated.
I'm on day #11 of the SBD diet. I have not stuck to it 100% the
last couple of days. I have eaten a small carb something.
Hopefully this will be worthwhile. I weighed tuesday nite and
nothing had changed. It can be so discouraging! But I know
you all understand that.
~~Ann, h-pylori is the bacteria that causes ulcers. The nausea
doesnt happen everyday. I may be fine for 2 days then the next
day I feel nauseated all day. It's the strangest thing.
~~Shirley, I may have to check into the food allergies. I dont
know. I've had it even though I havent eaten any bread type
foods. Is gluten only in starches? I'll look up that website.
Thanks...
~~Desk, glad you made it...have a great trip.
Welcome to all of the new folks! This is a great place
to hang out!
~~nanch, glad your almost through with the painting. I dont
like to paint, so it would drive me crazy. Glad you have beautiful
blue skys today. Looking forward to fall, my favorite time of year.
Summer hasn't been bad at all this year. Humidity has been bad,
but wev'e only had one 90 day according to the news media.
~~Dany, congrats on being a lifetime member! What an awesome achievement. don't know if I'll ever be able to say
that. But I dont give up!!!
My friend that had gastric bypass in March, her husband is having
the surgery right now. So I am in prayer for him. I still havent made up my mind about it.
Need to run ladies, have a super day!!! Wished I could have chatted last nite, but when I got home I was so tired...Sharon

Thursday August 7th
Hi Ladies,
I'm at work and don't have time for individual hello's just now, so just consider yourself greeted and ed!
Anyway, just wanted to pop in really quick and confess my sins!! (Don't they say that confession is good for the soul?)
Yesterday started off very OP. I was such a good girl - had my Slimfast meal bar for breakfast, a Lean Cuisine for lunch, and some grapes for a mid-afternoon snack. Ran up and down the four flights of stairs several times and did my mile-walk around campus. Felt so proud of myself! But, as the Bible says, pride goeth before a fall - and I fell- HARD!
I was doing great, and then I got off from work. That's when the trouble started and I got WAY off program!!!!! On the way home, I suddenly got ravenously hungry. So I stopped at McDonalds (I don't even like McDonalds) and bought a cheeseburger Happy Meal and a chocolate shake and this little piggy went munch, munch, slurp all the way home. BAD GIRL!
But that's that's not the worst of it (hanging my head in shame.) My friend, Cindy, won four tickets to the county fair, so we took my niece and nephew last night. And of course, county fairs wouldn't be county fairs without greasy, fattening, so-off-program-that-the-program-doesn't-exist foods. I had a 6" round pepperoni pizza, then I had 1/2 of a large blooming onion (deep-fried, of course) with Ranch Dressing, then I had a four of my niece's nachos, then I had a root-beer float. I did manage to resist the fried candy bar and the funnel cake though. And I gave the cotton candy that I bought to my nephew. And we did walk around a lot and I rode a bunch of rides. But I was such a bad, bad girl.
I got up this morning for the morning-after weigh in and had gained two pounds. So, I'm on bread and water today as punishment. And I've vowed to stay away from county fairs forever (or until August 15, when the Appalachian fair starts!)
Hope ya'll are having a better OP week than I am!
 s,
Lisa

Hello everyone! It is sunny and a bit cooler (less humid) here today as well. The kiddos are in school today and I'm soooo happy to have some quiet time. Don't know whether to just sit here and listen to the quiet or run to Wal-Mart for some school supplies w/o them biting my ankles. Choices, choices!
I was a bit concerned about DS going into middle school this year. He will be 12 next month, but is VERY introverted. He is sharp as a tack, but extremely forgetful and easily upset. He showed me up. Was dropping DD off at her classroom and he was telling me that he was going to go ahead to the MS where his friends were waiting. Of course, that was only down the hall from where I was, but it's a start. We have a very small school district --1,500 students in PK-12th -- and he has gone there since 1st grade. Plus his teacher is DD's 3rd grade teacher which we LOVED. Those things make the transition easier.
WELCOME TO CHRISTY!!!
Guess I will stop rambling and go to Wal-Mart. There is always tomorrow to listen to the quiet. Have a wonderful day BEST buddies!!!!!!

Hello everyone! Welcome Christy. You’ve come to the best place for support. These ladies are very supportive. Even though I haven’t told them yet but they are a great inspiration to stay OP and to get out there and exercise, even if I am having a hard time getting myself to start exercising.
Sorry everyone, I have not posted in awhile, I’ve been swamped at work and when I get home, the computer is the last thing I want to look at or touch. My boss has sent me to classes on Friday’s so I can learn even more about computers. Oh Yeah! :{ Like I don’t get enough of them.
Now I need to vent, I hope you all don’t mind. A week before my hyst I met with my ob/gyn for my physical. Well wouldn’t you know it, he found a lump in my breast. He said not to worry about it it’s probably a cyst, lets concentrate on your hyst first then we’ll take care of that. At my four week check up after the hyst he found lump #2 in the same breast. At week 5 of recovery I go for a mammogram and an ultrasound. They showed nothing. He sent me to a surgeon for a second opinion and I met with him today. He agrees with my ob/gyn that they are only cysts and said that the odds are in my favor. I’m 31 and no family history of breast cancer (my father passed away from cancer 15 years ago). So now I need to schedule outpatient surgery and have them taken out just in case. Down inside I know the cysts are nothing but a pain in the boob, lol. But I just had surgery 3 months ago and here I go again. This makes surgery #4 in 3 years, 3 for the endometriosis and this one.
I told my husband I better be getting all the health problems out of the way and that I hope I’m healthy when I get old. I don’t think I can take much more.
I’m sorry this took so long but I just need to talk/type. Thank you all for your shoulder, patience and your open ear.
Desiree

(((Msy))) I'm really sorry you're dealing with this and facing surgery #4!
I know you know that it's good to get it taken care of & all of that...still, it must be very distressing. It's great that the docs are so positive about it all, but I can understand your feelings about "here we go again with another procedure", what a drag!!!!!!!!!!
Hang in there & we'll help ya get through this round!!!!
Bills! How cool that ds was less upset than you were! I love it when they suprise us that way! Hope you enjoy your trip to Wally World.
Shashi, county fairs are KILLERS!!! You resisted funnell cakes???????? I am not worthy! Okay, take your self-inflicted punishment like a woman & you'll do better tomorrow.
Sharon, whooo hooooo on day 11!!!!!! I think many (all??) of us slip here & there...you know the drill ...get back on the horse & you'll be fine!!! Hope things went well for your friend today!
Nancy, you are PUMPED!!!! Whooooo Hooooo!! I know you're having fun helping your dd like this, but I KNOW you're looking forward to that little peak at the light at the end of the clutter tunnel, right? Enjoy that beautiful MI sunshine! (I miss it!!)
Powerbaby Ann, looks like things worked out alright after all. Whew! I can't believe it's already almost time for Florida, man where does the time go?????? Oh well, you will be beach ready & jammin', right??
Thanks to you all for the hugs & support you gave while I was being a big baby yesterday! It really does help, you know?
Things will be fine, as always, right? It's nice you're all there.
I was off program yesterday (garlic, onion, and potato pizza & greek salad!!) & this morning but will do better now that I'm back home.
Thanks for everything. Hope you're all enjoying some nice weather & good times. Drink that water, babes!
...anxiously awaiting a note from Shirley...

Hi BEST friends (see, I'm trying, very hard, to post every day )
Today's been very OP, again, and I guess that the glorious weather we're having helps. And, of course, the prospect of finally succeeding at maintenance is a nice incentive.
BTW, I slipped a little last night, giving in to eating 2 too many Tim Horton's cookies and a few candies... however, I am doing step 2 of the program for a few days in the hopes of loosing 1 or 2 lbs, just to have a little safety net... I really don't trust this body of mine to maintain itself when I'm that close to my goal.. maybe I should???
I'm biking to and from work every day and I'm starting to think that, maybe, I should be adding some more exercise, because I'm not challenging myself very much. I do try to go swimming, whenever I'm not going to soccer games in the evening, but the weather doesn't always comply... and, I better face it, swimming season is coming to an end, real fast (really don't want to face the start of a new school year, especially that it's going to be DS's first year in HS... not looking forward to that increase in independance, considering the hardships we had last year... but trying to be positive about it all...)
I don't know if I'm coming down with a cold or what, but I have a very sore throat, my nose feels kind of stuffed up and so does my head.... nice timing, considering I arranged a long week-end for myself: booked tomorrow off... let's hope it's just my allergies acting up.
Welcome to the new ladies that might have slipped in while I was just skimming the posts. Even though we might sound like a very close-knit group, there's always room for someone new... as this is still a part of Hystersisters!!!
Wel, I'll try and pop in after DD's soccer game tonight. Good-by for now!!

Good Afternoon my dears....
<<quickly trying to type, before AOL disconnects, as its been doing more & more to me>>
fried candy bars??? I've heard of fried ice cream....
MissyMagoo... ...hang in there with your upcoming cyst surgery...you will get through it!!! And, much better to take care of yourself than wonder, wonder, wonder. I had it done when I was in my late 20's, and medical procedures are ever so much improved since then...(that was the dark ages of the 70's). However, it does not hurt to be well informed, so you might want to read up about cysts, procedures, etc.
Peachybabe - powerbabe Annie...I think I shall say "ditto" to your comments & questions to so many of our sisters.
Went to see my counsellor today, got my nails done, ate the wrong things for lunch, did errands and ran so late that I had to postpone my physical therapy appointment until next week. SIGH Checking my watch a little more carefully would have helped. I ended up in a timeless fog.
Tonight's supper is salmon (in foil) on the grill. We went out for supper last night & I had chicken livers (the pub at this greek restaurant has fabulous pub grub) and rice pilaf. and, well, some bread & beer....I absoluely drooled over the dessert cart from main dinning room, but passed every sweet calorie up.
(Although I am not doing very well right now being an OP Best sister, I still count my lucky stars that I have made major improvements in my food selection over the past year +. )
Just finished a great book by Barbara Samuel called "A Piece of Heaven" - a fast read, but more than just a novel as a single mom regains custody of her teenage daughter, deals with past problems, and just sort of "blooms" in the story. Set in New Mexico. Has "messages" within as she reflects on her old life and emerging new life.
gotta go...

I'm Fine! I'm Fine!
Hi all,
Bottom line--I am okay! They took five more shots of the suspicious area and nothing showed up in them, so they didn't even do the ultrasound. They want me to have another mammogram in six months just to be extra cautious.
Woo hoo!! I bought seafood shishkebabs for dinner (already made--sheer indulgence) to celebrate! All OP of course!
All your good wishes and prayers worked!
Thanks guys for seeing me through this!
I will post again later. I need to make a few phone calls.
