My last period!!!!

I can't help but be excited, for the first time, I might add, at the appearance of my period! My last one, the period to end all periods, hallelujah, the end is in sight!!!!!! Man, this waiting is tough though; I started baking things and freezing them today in preparation for my appointment at the castle. I need to do some meals ahead too, and freeze them, but I'm drawing a bit of a blank....suggestions? I don't eat pasta, potatoes or rice so I'm limited. I have chili put away, and I'm thinking soup but other than that.....and dh is, to put it nicely, cooking impaired so any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!
This period would have to be a doozy though....I feel awful but keep reminding myself it's the last one! Yahoo!

My last period!!!!

No pasta, potatoes or rice you say - you don't make it easy do you?! lol
Maybe some partial meals - what you normally eat minus some ingredients that don't freeze well that can be added fairly easily at the last minute. Tortiere is a favourite of mine, or cabbage rolls or meat loaf, stew (I know, that's almost soup!). I'll keep thinking about it.
Nice to see a fellow Canadian! Nova Scotia is beautiful.

My last period!!!!

Grill chicken breasts & wrap individually. (Marinate some in terryiaki) Spagg. Sauce - I know you don't eat pasta, but have you ever tried the spaghetti squash? Or sauce can be used over baked pork chops - cover with foil to keep moist.

You're not the only one celebrating!

k30-

I, too, am having my last period ... never thought I'd be excited about that! It's also been a doozy - I've been in excruciating pain for two days now.

As for the meals, can't think of anything that doesn't include pasta, rice or potatoes. But, if you buy some things ahead of time that are quick and easy, that might help. Frozen salmon fillets can be thrown in the fridge and the next day are ready to cook. Wrap some prosciutto around or just drizzle with olive oil and the cook up in the oven (at 425) in about 10 minutes. No turning necessary. Get some bags of prewashed, ready-to-eat salad mixes, too.

Good luck!

My last period!!!!

to the last period! I have 4 weeks to go and should have at least 2 more periods. I certainly will not miss the 2 - 3 periods a month that I've endured for the last year. I've already had my pre-op appt which has caused me to get really nervous. Before this I could keep the surgery in the back of my mind. Now it is consuming me. At work I have to train 4 different people to cover my work while I recooperate. Home is a whole different issue for me. My dh, dd, & ds are all prepared to look after me. dd loves to cook, dh is handy in the kitchen as well. And dd can't do much (kind of lazy) but he helps out when we need him to. I am just so concerned about what the Dr will find. My sister had overian cancer 13 yrs ago. She's fine now, but it took them 3 years and 4 surgeries to fix her up.

to all

My last period!!!!

I have a cook book in the "Company's Coming" series - called Casseroles. There is also Light Casseroles. They are easy to make usually, with regular ingredients, many without pasta, potatoes or rice and yummy too! Every casserole in the book can be made ahead and frozen (it says that right in the intro). The books are found at Wal-Mart, Zellers, Canadian Tire, most book stores, some Costco's and are usually between $10-$15 Can. Hope that helps.

Good luck!

My last period!!!!

Thank you! Those are some great ideas. (more ideas than I had on my own) I'm fortunate to only have one period a month (of course they last 11-21 days long, but generally once a month), so I know that this is my last. I had to buy tampons today (and pads too; tampons alone don't cut it) but bought the smallest box available....
