Hot Flashes suddenly w/1 ovary

My TAH was 3 mos ago and 1 ovary was left. I did the Vivelle .05 patch for about a month after surgery then the Dr. said my remaining ovary should kick in and make the hormones. Didn't have any symptoms until a week ago and the hot flashes are back with a vengance! I wake up every 2 hrs at night with one and lose track during workday. I'm just wondering why all of the sudden when things seemed to be working okay. I had a patch left over and put in on during the night---I know it will take some time to see if it helps. I was hoping to not have to do HRT because that's why we left the ovary.....but maybe it is not working right???

you are not alone

Hi Sbell,
I'm sorry this happened to you, but you are not alone. The same thing happened to me and I'm still on the Vivelle Dot. It's very disappointing, I know, because you weren't prepared for it. Maybe it will perk up again (I keep hoping that)?? Don't give up yet, but do use the HRT if you need it. Take care,
Deb

Hot Flashes suddenly w/1 ovary

i didn't have hot flashes excatly but i stayed so hot that i was so miserable and i froze everybody else. i am and a queen "B" to put it mildly! i couldn't sleep and then when i did fall asleep i woke up all night long. my hair is thinning ALOT and well, there are a bunch more2 1/2 years of this and enough is enough!!! my med. dr kept putting me on different anti-depressants,effexor xr,zoloft, paxil cr, lexapro and they only made it worse. finally i went back to my gyn and she said that although i am not in menopause,my estrogen levels are flucuating and that is what my problem is. she put me on climara .025 and it has made such a difference.it only goes to prove that a man does not know what a women goes through and hasn't the foggiest idea how to "fix" us. she also told me that right now this will work but later i will probably have to come back and get a higher dose. it kinda worries me taking estrogen but there is no family history of breast cancer in my family and the pros outweigh the cons at this point. hope you feel better soon
