Cool - FRIDAY Sept 26 FRIDAY Sept 26

Morning all, I missed you yesterday! Hope everyone is well and ready for a good Friday. We have been working furiously on our crisis at work, and if you are interested in reading today's front page news, you can read all about it at http://www.hendersonvillenews.com/ap....dll/frontpage
I am grateful that the reporter talked to my boss. And he did a very good job of getting the facts pretty straight. I was impressed.

Anyway, I don't have too much time to eat or do anything like exercise but things will calm down soon, maybe. It is 6:30 now and I'm rushing out the door to go to the gas station to get things started for the day. I've put in 10-hour days all week, and perhaps today I can slip out early, if the newspaper article doesn't cause widespread panic!

I love you all and MISS you!!

FRIDAY Sept 26

Good Morning Everyone! Wow Desk, you sure were in here early this morning. I'm only up and going this early because DH had to fly to Lexington Ky this morning for a work event at the NCAA football game there. It sounds like you've got your hands full at work. I read the article. You're right, I hope people don't start getting in a panic. That won't help or solve any of the problems. Sending you lots of 's as I'm sure you need them right now.

Ann, Thanks for the magic remedy. I've written it down and will make up a bottle of it today. (Need to pick up a few of the ingredients first, like all of them ). You sound like you got back on track yesterday after your non-OP day the day before.

Sandi, No, I've never had a colonoscopy. I do know someone who had one. He was freaking out over his, and once it was done, it was really not bad he said. His GF brought him to eat with us that evening and he was sort of loopy from being sedated, but otherwise he was fine. I'm sure you'll do just fine too.

Pat, Sorry you're feeling badly. I hate colds more than anything. Hope your better soon. Did you get home safe and sound after picking up your DD. You had quite a trip in the car from the earlier trip. I've done that when I'm not feeling my best. It just seems like one thing happens, then another and another. Take care of yourself.

BSQ, It sounds like you're about ready to go, both with the interview today and the vacation. Have a wonderful time. I hope DSW's gallstones don't give him much problem.

Today is weigh in day with my friend and I can honestly say I did drop one pound this week. I would have liked to do more, but one a week is our goal, so that's good. I always seem to drop weight in odd amounts. I'll go nothing, nothing nothing, one pound, then the next week I'll drop 3 or 4. So I just keep at it. Since we returned from vacation in July, I am now down 14 pounds and am finding lots of toning and muscles firming up since I got on the BowFlex. I can't believe I've let it sit here for almost 2 years. Oh well, better late than never I guess.
Planning on being op today. Waiting on the sun to come up, then I'll get my walk. Today is BowFlex day so I'll do that after the walk. Then my day is mine as I'm the only one home.
Hope everyone has a BEST day!
to everyone!!

FRIDAY Sept 26

Happy FRIDAY!!! Whooo hoooooo!

Just gotta love Friday!

Well, thanks for your good wishes, dd is all signed up at her new school. Yipeeee! She had her own money to spend for new clothes so we went to 2 thrift stores where she could stretch her dollars. She did a great job of only buying those things that were in really good shape & she got tons for her $. Then we had lunch at Friday's and I ate a loaded baked potato & a salad. VERY off program for SBD but I decided to go for it in part because it made the cheapest lunch for me. Was feeling thrifty to the bone yesterday!

A few of the kids have been complaining of feeling ill these days, various symptoms, so we'll see if it turns into a sick ward around here. Ugh.

Today brings a mammogram, bone density test, and visit with another doc. Also a haircut. That's my reward.

Hope you all have a great day.

Desk, I miss you, too! Gonna go read your article. Sorry about the stressssssssssss!!!
I believe there's nothing quite like a good bad word to relieve a little stress and I'd suggest you use one or two well-chosen ones (sorry ladies who don't swear!) but last time I did that you reminded me you are a high-level bureaucrat and do not behave that way!! (you were laughing your head off while you said it...)
...Wait, what were you doing when we had that conversation?????????????? Wasn't that between martini-laced calls to LITTLE Timmy?????? LOL. Hugs Hugs Hugs.

Oh my gosh, Nancy! You've lost 14 lbs & you're toning??? WOW! GO Bowflexbabe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always an inspiration, you are. Weigh-in will be fun and you have SO earned the pride that I hope you are feeling!

BEST wishes to all those who haven't posted yet (lurkers too!)
and hope you have an OP Friday. We can do it! Water, water, water!

xena

Oh yeah, Ann's magic potion! I plan to try it, too, and like Nancy, must go get the ingredients. Sounds simple enough & if it works for dh, I'll fill a gallon jug. lol. He has knots the size of Montana in his shoulders all the time.

FRIDAY Sept 26

Colonoscopy - have had two. One I absolutely remember nothing about - that was 20 years ago. I had one last November and found it very interesting. Since the "good" drugs make me really sick the doc only gave me something to take the edge off (can't remember what it's called). I was wide awake for the entire thing, could see the screen and it was pretty interesting. They keep the room pretty dim and the light on the scope is so bright that at times you can see it thru the skin. Didn't really cause me any real pain, some gassy cramping from time to time that I needed to "breathe" thru (my gyn came in for the procedure and she was at the end of the table reminding me to use lamaze breathing - what a hoot!). The worst part about a colonoscopy is the prep (go-lytely or fleets phospha soda YUCKO!). To take a biopsy they have a little wire than pinches on to the tissue and they just pull the wire away quickly and the biopsy is done. Just a tug, no pain. I was out and shopping an hour after they finished - felt fine other than gassy. Probably TMI, but a colonoscopy is nothing to fret about.

Its going to be a walking lunch today. Hormones in full gear and I'm cranky, so I'll put that crankiness to good use and burn off some steam and calories.

Have a monumental day folks.

FRIDAY Sept 26

HI gang --

Do we have any Pilates fans among us? There is a thread in Hysteritaville about doing Pilates after a TAH that needs a reply:

http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...hreadid=112843

I found her on another forum last night and suggested she post in Hysteritaville but I didn't do my first-ever Pilates class until many many months after my hyst so really don't know what to tell her. If any of y'all can help out this hostess..........I'd appreciate it!!

Sandi -- I rec'd your PM and hope that by now after reading what I told you and what others have said, you're not freaking over the colonoscopy (in my opinion a mammogram is much more uncomfortable!) Thanks for the offer on taking notes on West Wing for me.........I may have to take you up on that! Mostly I'll just need to know what happens on the show that airs on Wed Oct 8th..........most likely we'll miss that one. I'll just need the highlights..........

Xena -- sounds like you have a full day of doctor's appts going on. Good luck with your tests and I hope they all turn out with good results for you. Gonna post a pic of the new you after the haircut??

Nancy, Xena, and whoever -- that stuff does work.........if you can't find the wintergreen oil in a health food store (it comes in a little bottle with an eye-dropper usually) you can find rubbing alcohol with wintergreen already in it at Walmart and then just add 10 crushed up aspirin to a 16 oz bottle of it. But it's better if you can add the wintergreen oil yourself.......makes it stronger or something. I can't tell you how many disabled guys have looked at me like I was nuts when I told them what was in it. They say "oh that's not going to do anything" and then we put it on their shoulder or neck or whatever aches and then they're like.......Wow! it feels better! Anyway you have nothing to lose but smelling like a Lifesaver........BTW I think I screwed up the recipe the other day. The little bottle of wintergreen oil........put the whole bottle into the bottle of alcohol, and 10 crushed up aspirin. I think it's 2 oz of wintergreen oil.

Desk.........I sure hope things calm down soon!

BSQ -- I sent you an email with more phone #'s then you ever wanted and probably too much info but you know me..........why say it in 3 words when I can say it in 20

Brandy & I went for our and now I'm headed to breakfast and then to the gym. One quick stop at the grocery store and then I'm coming home to put a roast on to marinate for tomorrow night (trying another new recipe........poor dh). We have couscous left from last night so tonight we're either going to have potstickers or quesadillas with the couscous on the side.

Ok..........gotta go.......have a great day everybody I will be back later!

Hi all

I have missed you all to. The computers have been down all week and at night I have been so busy.

Things are okay very stressful. FIL is still hanging on. My MIl wants us to visit with the chicks tomorrow and I dont want to. But I am out numbered and we are going. It is going to be awful.

I am down 9 pounds since Sept 2nd. I am still 2 pounds up from my usual weight. I have 12 pounds to reach a healthy BMI and 19 pounds ( maybe to my goal) I am exercising like crazy. I did a workout here at work yesterday and the new Curves near dds dance last night. I have been doing something everyday. So all is pretty good in that department.

Nanc yippeeeeeeeeeee on the 14 pounds and another one this week. So cool. It sure does feel good.

Ann you are busy like usual. But I know you love that.

Desk you sound busy and stressed. I will go read the article after I post this.

Morning Xena. I am glad your dd likes her school. Good shopping.

Nel sorry you are cranky.

Okay I am off for now

Bye

FRIDAY Sept 26

Good morning, all.

First - thank you to everyone who responded to me about colonoscopies. I really appreciate the info and am feeling calmer now.

Desk, I read the article and it sounds like you're going to be a busy person for some time. We had a problem like that here a few years ago but I don't think it was as widespread. They were mostly concerned about it having contaminated our large recreational lake since the station was right on a creek that fed into the lake.

Nancy, Wow! You are doing great on that bowflex and with your walks!!! At this rate you will be down to fifty some pounds for your cruise... LOL

Xena, good luck with the appointments. The bone density is a breeze and the other is just a squeeze... OK, had to throw in the poem somewhere... Thanx for the waterwaterwater reminder.

Nel, thanks for the info - shopping??? Hmmm, have to keep that in mind - I do have the rest of the day off... Enjoy your walk - I get some of my best walks in when I'm cranky.

Ann, I, too, am going to get the ingredients for your magic formula while shopping today. DH and I can always use all the help we can get when it comes to various aches and pains. Thanx for the recipe!

Katie, my thoughts will be with you tomorrow. Hope things go more smoothly than you anticipate. Nine pounds since the 2nd!!! WooooWoooo! September is a good month!

Bliss, HI! back at cha! Smaller frames are always fun to get used to - do you find yourself looking around the edges a lot?

Only a few more minutes and I can head out for my walk. This morning brings my six month check-up with the gyn. I'm thinking about not having breakfast and actually volunteering to have blood drawn. I'm curious as to what affect this hysterectomy has had on my cholesterol. It was OK before - not great but OK. Of course, I changed my whole way of eating shortly after the hyst - so hopefully it's better than OK now.

After the doctor - it's off to Walmart, my favorite place. Actually, the ONLY place to SHOP here in tiny town. LOL

Hope everyone has a wonderful OP Friday. Yea!!! It's Friday!!!

To the Rescue, Xena, Etc.

Just a quick post ladies. Missed you guys yesterday. Had the appt with miracle doctor #2 who isn’t in total agreement with miracle doctor #1, but all in all I think it will be a good thing. I’ll check back in later hopefully and explain some. Bottom line—I am not nearly as allergic as originally thought. Even the gluten may be gluten sensitivity and not true celiac. All my sensitivities can be eliminated and I may be able to eat those things again. I am once again overwhelmed with info and other factors to consider. Ended up going to a lecture by a doctor/dentist on one of the factors after my appt. Didn’t get home until 10:30. My appt was at 3:00! Anyway too much to write now.

The BEST news—I am wearing a pair of black jeans that I haven’t worn in over a year and I have already been told by a couple of people that I look great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weigh-in isn’t until Sunday, but I think the scale is still working with me. BTW, last time I wore these suckers I had to do the old lay on the bed to zip trick and then feel like a sausage all day.

Nancy—You are doing fantastic—I am so proud of you!! I like your new moniker (thanks to Xena) of Bowflex Babe!! Maybe if we all work hard enough we’ll each have our own Babe moniker of some description!

Desk—Hi! Hang in there! Will check out the article later!

BSQ—Hope you guys have a great vacation!! Sorry about DSw—take good care of him (I know you will ). (Gall bladder operations can be a breeze these days though.)

Xena—Sounds like you had a great day yesterday! Thanks for that remedy. I’ll try it on DH and DS and maybe my shoulder if it acts up again. I put the icy hot stuff on DS the other night and about threw up!

http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...ghlight=turkey

Sandi—I like to get my cholesterol checked every few months—I’ve been so please to see it continue to improve. Hope the information on colonoscopies is helping and you’re not too stressed. Usually what we imagine is far worse. Have a great day!

Katie—You are doing great with your OPness. s on tomorrow sweetie.

Ann—You crack me up! Good thing we don’t have a limit on words on HS or BEST, right? I am the same way !

Lisa—Yeah, walk off that crankiness—it never ceases to amaze me how that works!

Bliss—We need to talk offline about writing and wordsmithing grants! I am very interested in doing that regarding health issues.

Love you guys,
Shirley
