Trip to the castle on 10/15

I am having a laprascopic supracervical hysterectomy on
10/15 for fibroids. Any one else had a similar surgery?
What was your recovery like?

Trip to the castle on 10/15

Hi Debbie:

I just had my LSH yesterday . In the hospital at 5:30 am...out at 6:00 pm. You can read the thread I posted this morning "Cynthia's Coronation Ceremony" for the details of my surgery day. Im happy to answer any questions you may have about my experience with the LSH. There are only a handful of women on the HS site that have had the procedure, but I am sure that I can speak for all of them too and say that we are happy to help you in any way possible. There are also a few women that have upcoming LSH surgeries this month too.

In answer to your question about recovery....Well I am 1 day post Op, and I didn't sleep particularly well last night (but glad to be in my own bed). Now that I am able to sleep on my side, I am sure I will sleep better tonight. I am sore today...inside and out (although I have only one suture, on an outside incision...none inside). I am not so sore that I couldn't take a short walk around my neighborhood (about a quarter mile) and still feel pretty good in general (I just woke up from a short nap). I am not taking more than Motrin for pain/swelling and drinking plenty of water. So far So good.

And one more thing. Even though this procedure is very different from the more traditional hysters, you can learn a whole lot from the experiences of the other women on this site who have had or are having different types of surgery too. Your recovery will be faster and your healing time shorter, but lots of other things will be the same.

It is so cliche' on this site, but so true. The waiting is the hardest part.
