Headaches

I had surgery on 15 Sept. 2003, and I seem to have alot of headaches since, look it is 8:51 am and I already have a headache, heck I went to sleep last night with one, and can't understand why. I am not on any type of HRT. I didn't wake up with one. And no I haven't done anything except shower and drink my usual 2 cups of coffee. Think I may need to be on HRT? There is alot of bad press about HRT, that is the reason I am not on any. Am I alone?

Headaches

The headaches can be a symptom from the surgical menopause since they seem to be quite common. I still get a migraine when my period would have been about to start but I'm on HRT. You can try putting Tiger balm or vicks on your temples and lie down for a bit, that sometimes helps me more than advil.

You could also head over to the hormone jungle and try a search for headaches and see what other sisters have found that works.

Wish I could be more help but s and good luck. If they persist call your dr and see what he/she suggests.

Headaches

Hi, I never got migrains before my hyst last year. I was started on a low dose of hrt the morning after my surgery. At about 1 week post op , I got the worse headache ever. Nothing helped it at all. My dr said that it was caused my a hormonal imbalance. He increased my hrt and in a few days it was gone and has not come back. I'm well over a year post op now.
Talk to your dr about it. Maybe you should condider hrt ( at least for awhile ). I know that there's been a lot of bad press about hrt lately but it sure has helped me a lot.

Maybe you could visit the Hormome Jungle here. The ladies there have tons of experience and info to share. Don't let bad press scare you from trying to get some relief.

Headaches

Hi Bejay,

I had a TAH/BSO on August 7, 2003. Not on HRT either. I had a headache the week after I came home from the castle. It lasted for 5 days. Tried everything to get rid of it. Including Migraine prescription and percoset. Nothing helped. It finally went away. Dr. said it was probably hormonal and eventually body would even itself out. I have had the headaches almost weekly the shortest one was 3 days to the longest 5 days (first one). Finally I think they are going away. Haven't had one for over two and a half weeks and for some reason the last one responded to execdrin Migraine which didn't work previously. I guess the was right.

Good luck to ya.

Connie
