recovering from gerd sugery

Hi all, had sugery done on the 9th they thought it was going to easy, well guess not, i was too thin had to give me extra gas. Well I am home now got released on the 10th, dont remember much except the nurses and there vitals every two hours. was in a lot of pain and its not that bad now, just achy and waiting to go to bathroom. I can eat just about anything soft and warm. Good thing is i no longer smoke anymore. yeah. So I have five little holes ,,no stitches they glued them, the sterile tape came off saturday. One odd thing is my primary doc came in to check on me and she listened to my heart, didnt remember if she was in the surgery with surgeon????? just wander if my arrythmia was acting up. oh well im feeling alittle btter but cant tell if my gerd has gione or not yet. angie confused.

((((Angie))))
I was thinking of you! Glad to see that your home and GERD free. The pains from the CO2 is not fun...that and a 101.4 temp put me back in the hospital! LIKE I SAID NOT FUN I had pains in my right shoulder radiating to my jaw and neck, it hurt to breath!! and forget about lung capacity, I could only get to 250 on the breather gizmo!
If your not having reflux like you did in the past, I would bet the farm that your not going too .
I'm almost 3 weeks post nissen and able now to eat more solids... but very little, food goes thru me fast! like within an hour! I get hiccups and spasms(heat pad helps) every time I eat, food can get stuck so be careful...but thats normal and part of the healing process. Drinking something warm with every meal is a must, take small bites and chew your food well and you should do fine.
The road to recovery can be slow and tedious, but it's worth being GERD FREE!!
Just be mindful of everything you lift and use proper body mechanics...would not want the wrap to slip!!

Take care Angie 's
