shopping for supplies - and cool (funny) t-shirt

Hi Everyone,

I'm one week away and getting nervous. Having lost one of my dogs last week to cancer, I've been in a foul mood to say the least. At least my dr. called in a script for Ambien which is helping me sleep. But DH has said on 2 different nights that I'm having nightmares in which I cry out. Anyone else doing this in the last preop days?

Anyway, I've shopped for most of my needed supplies and feel a little better about that. Got the lovely "prep" for next Monday night (an enema AND a douche - ick! Lucky me...) The Gas-X for afterwards at home (thanks for the tip). Many fluffy new pillows. Of course the Hyster Sister book (a bday gift from my real sister - it's a super book). Several good fiction books (most on loan from friends/sister.) And a discount twin bed (mismatched mattresses meant CHEAP!) that went in our "exercise" room here off our living room. Which means I can lay in bed and see the TV (in here), with my remote in hand. Plus I can block the dogs off in the living room (here) with a babygate so they can see me and vice versa but not bother my sore/healing body.

Lastly, as I am a big dog "rescue" person, I was pleased to find a funny but appropriate t-shirt (sweatshirts avail. too). They have either a cartoon dog or cat on them, and it says, "I'm fixed. How about you?" I think it's funny for my soon-to-be situation, and also promotes responsible pet ownership, which I highly support! I hope to get mine in time to wear in the castle.

Hope you all are doing well, and thank heavens for this wonderful website.

Hi gals,

I would also love to get one of those t-shirts, I have 2 schnauzer's (no kids but my dogs are my babies) my date is on Halloween, so I picked up some really cute orange ghosty socks, hope I can wear them into the OR. Boy....the waiting is miserable. I am trying to keep busy, doing all the usual. Cleaning, organizing, setting up some quilting projects, putting aside magazines. I have even decided to make my own cough pillow for the castle. Good luck to all!

Hey,

Please post where you got it. I would like to get one too. I have a dog and 2 cats and all are fixed too. I think it is highly appropriate.

Happy Dog here's wishing you well on your surgery.
You are scheduled for the day after me. We'll have to compare notes.

the link to the "I'm fixed" shirts...

is here!

http://www.doghause.com/petshop-shirts.html

Scroll down to see both the cat and dog one. I of course had to have 2 of the dog ones... the t-shirt (in case I still have the IV but can wear my own short-sleeves) and the baseball style shirt.

I think it will be a hoot, plus supports a cause I believe in.

Thank you for your replies - and for the surgery words of encouragement!!!

These are great!

I had to get a few items with the cat face and caption "I'm fixed...How about you?" I would love to wear the t-shirt the next day after surgery just to see the expresson on the nurses' faces...and my doctor's!! lol!!!
