5 months post op-will this EVER end?!?!?

I really did think I was ok. I have been felling great since about 3 weeks. All of a sudden I have been having these emotional outbursts for the tinyest little thing. I was studying for a bio test and got mad because my pen quit working. I threw a total fit and acted like a baby. I feel like a child. I am so hormonal it is crazy. I thought that since I had my ovaries everything would be like it was before the hyst. I am in CONSTANT PMS. Whats up with that? I know I need to go get my levels checked but I am so busy with school, the kids, and my DH (I am not using the dh term endearingly right now) It just seems like everytime I feel like I am back to normal (which lasts about 4 days) I am back to psycho mom/wife/student. I hate this!! How much longer do I have to put up with myself being like this? I have done so much research on this and I can't find anything to support how I am acting. Any help out there?

Hi Erika,

It sounds like you have a very full plate being mom, wife and student. You are only 5 months post op, your body is still healing and adusting.

Sounds like even under the best of circumstances you are trying to juggle too much too soon. Take care of yourself and heal properly. Have you called your doctor? Give your doctor a call your hormones may just need some adjustments.

Hang in there

CT- Do you think I would need hormones even though I have kept my ovaries?

Hi Erika, Yes, It's possible for your natural hormones to take some time after surgery to get re-adjusted. The doctor could check your hormone levels and see if you need some additional help with some HRT. Give them a call.
Let us know what you find out.
Take care!

That is how I was for almost a year pre-op. I think I was in peri-menopause. My regular DR put me on anti-depressants and I'm still taking those. Maybe you should consult your DR about that.

My DR was planning to leave my ovaries but ended up taking them because they were all messed up with endometriosis (didn't know that pre-op). The nurse slapped a hormone patch on my butt the night after surgery. Since then, I have been like a new Princess, mood-wise.

In spite of keeping your ovaries, maybe you should talk to your DR about HRT. Could be your hormones are still out of whack. I am also 5 months post-op and I haven't felt this "balanced" in the last several years.

Good luck and s

Peg
