tub baths

How soon after surgery can I get back in my bathtub? I miss it so! I'm a week and a half post-op. I still have some steri-strips, but the doctor said I can take them off, and I must say that the portions of the incision where the strips have come off look just fine, nice and tight. Doesn't seem like there would be anything that could leak or open or get infected.

Cynthia,

Most sisters seem to get cleared anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks post op for tub baths. It's best to check with your doctor before sinking into your bubbly delight.

tub baths

Cynthia,
I would just ask your Dr. because my Dr. gave me the ok for a shower or tub bath after my cath was removed which was the day after surgery. I just had to be sure that my incision was dried very well and the nurse suggested to use my blow dryer on cool and dry it. I didn't have any stitches or staples either. You just want to be careful of infection. Good luck with your recovery,
I am 4 weeks post op today feeling pretty good, but very bored.
take care.

Hi Cynthia!

I know what you mean about missing your tub baths. I felt the same way after my hyst. I had to wait a full 6 weeks! Check with your doc...maybe you won't have to wait quite so long.

Take care & Hope you are able to relax in your tub real soon.

tub baths

My doctor only gave me 4 no no's post op. No sex, tampons, douching or heavy lifting ( over 10 lbs. ) for 4 weeks. I had to call to ask about driving at which he said if I could stomp my foot and it not hurt, and I was not on narcotics, I could drive. He said not word one about no baths. I've been taking them since I got home. I had the 3 week check up and everything was fine. It probably makes a difference if you've had the abdominal versus vaginal surgery.

tub baths

I had a TAH/BSO and when my doc came in on day one he said I could take tub baths or showers. I opted for showers because I couldn't get up easily. I was closed with Dermabond (glue) and was very suprised he said I could soak!!! Today, at two weeks, I did finally half-way sit in the tub, on my knees...and it felt wonderful to soak again!!! I am still having trouble getting up and down, due to a complication, but was able to get out on my knees. I can't wait to REALLY soak!!!!!

ASK YOUR and follow his/her advise!!!!! Seems each one has their own opinion!!!

I was told, not for six weeks. But call your DR and see what he/she says. Kay

Hi----I see you have already received a lot of different answers. I just asked yesterday at my doctors about baths and she said nothing in the vagina (including water) for 6 weeks. So I guess I will just wait. Take care
