newbie and nervous

I found this site by accident and just love it. I'm having a TAH, bladder sling and liver biospy on 11-18-03 I had a D&C and hysterscopy a couple months ago and found that I have a enlarged uterus with a band that goes around the middle of it so it looks like I have 2 uterus. The Dr. told me that I'm very lucky that I was able to have children.I am anemic so been trying to get my iron up before surgery.I have a hard time taking iron pills.The liver biospy is being done because I have had some enzymes that have been elevated off and on for awhile so the dr decided this would be a good time to get it done.I've been trying to get the house cleaned good and everything in order but finding it hard I work second shift and dont have much energy for anything at home.I hate feeling so tired all the time.

Welcome to Hyster Sisters!! While I'm awfully sorry that you are facing more surgery, I am glad that you found HS and posted to introduce yourself. Please don't exhaust yourself before surgery by trying to get everything in perfect condition - it's important for you to be as rested up as possible, and honestly, you won't care what your house looks like for awhile afterwards. Are your children old enough to help? If they are, then now is a good time to get them started so when you are home recuperating they'll already know what needs to be done and how to do it.

I am sorry you are having so many problems...And I hope you will feel better when you get through all of this.

I understand about the problems with iron pills I threw them up. they don't do us much good when they come back up again.
I found that OTC Geritol diluted with warm water stayed down, and I was able to take it 3 times a day to bring my levels up in time for surgery. It wasn't easy but it worked. It has the same iorn dosage as the otc iron pills. So if you have problems with the pills you might check with your doctor to make sure it's ok for you and try good old Geritol.

My docs didn't believe that I could do it, but I did and had surgery right on schedule!

I am so glad you found Hystersisters, welcome, its a wonder support site. Nothing is too wierd to be brought up here. And you will find more support than you know what to do with.

Good luck working your way through the medical maze of Hysterland- knowledge is power and you need the knowledge to understand what is going on . Read everything you can....check out the articles page too....you will feel less like a victem when you have knowledge and can make informed decisions regarding your health care....
