Bladder Hernia!

Hello Everyone!

My GYN called today to give me the results from my ct. I can't believe this, but it showed that I DO have a hernia of sorts, it's my bladder that is bulging through my abdomen! how's that for something different!?

I am at a loss-she says she has never heard of this and it's "beyond her expertise" so back I go to the surgeon who repaired my fistula(I have an appt for the 28th) -I am bummed of course, but what can I do? I really don't want another surgery till after the holidays, my boss is going to freak when I tell her, as it is! I am just sick of drs and surgeries-I hope I can put it off till January. It hasn't bothered me too much till today (I think DH and I "celebrated" our anniversary too enthusiastically!!) and it is pretty sore today-I am keeping my fingers crossed it will be ok till the first of the year...

I searched every web site I could think of but couldn't find anything about a herniated bladder-got any ideas?

Linda, maybe you could move this over to a new thread to see if anyone has any info for me, I would appreciate it-I should've started one I guess!

Hugs to you all!

Louise

A herniated bladder?

Oh (((Louise))) I'm sorry to hear about the herniated bladder! I had a similar experience with timing... my first hysterversary (the exact day) was the day I had my last diverticulitis attack (and realized the colon had to go ).

I haven't been able to find any good links about paraperitoneal bladder hernias yet but will keep looking.... lots on vaginal bladder hernias though (aka cystocele, been there, done that ).

I hope this is just a little bump in the road for you and you'll soon be back on track!

No news

Well, I have searched every web site I can about this bladder hernia and haven't found anything!

I guess I'll just have to wait till I see my surgeon (wow-I have my own surgeon now!~?) on Tuesday and see what he has to say about it.

I am feeling pretty good, only a few aches and pains, nothing major. I am just being careful not to lift anything and I'm really careful if I cough!

I'll let you know as soon as I know anything about what happens next!

Hugs,

Louise

hi

Louise,

Sorry to hear your back to the Dr. again. Hope you find something out soon. Be careful till then. Maybe if you need surgery you will be able to put it off till Jan. It's no fun having surgery around the holidays. I'll be watching for the outcome.

Take care.

A herniated bladder?

(((Louise))) Me too... searched high and low for info on your particular type of hernia, and only found these pitiful tidbits:

http://www.amershamhealth.com/medcyc...%20BLADDER.asp

http://www.sru.ro/art12_98.htm

and would you believe the only mention I could find of this particular type of hernia and repair surgery in a female patient was in a dog? :

http://www.puppymillrescue.com/annettes_brood.htm

Surely there must have been others.

I'm glad you're feeling pretty good, and hope you get a lot more info from the surgeon on Tuesday. Let us know what you find out, OK?

A herniated bladder?

Linda,

Thanks-at least you found something! It made me feel so much better to read that somewhere, someone has actually heard of a bladder hernia!

I didn;t read the one about the puppy, although I have been called a b***h before! LOL!!!!!!

Thanks for caring enough to do a search on it-you always come through for me!

A herniated bladder?

Update-

Went to see the doc who did my fistula repair. He confirmed that, yes, I do have a hernia, and yes, it is my bladder. He also said, just like my gyn, that he has never seen a herniated bladder
(I feel special!)

Anyway, he reminded me that I had alot of adhesions and scar tissue and that if they repaired the hole (hernia) they would have to use the mesh barrier, and because of my past history, his concern is that my bladder might adhere to the mesh (adhesions!) and then I would have real problems! He even said it could 'cause another fistula! YIKES!!! So...

Since it doesn't cause me alot of pain now, I am taking a wait and see approach till January when I will feel better about taking time off. He said if at any time I was in severe pain or couldn't pee- I needed to go into the office or ER. I am on a 2 hour "voiding" schedule, I have to empty my bladder every 2 hours to keep it empty. So, that's my hernia story-anybody have an opinion I would love to hear it!

Sorry this is so long!

Hugs,
Louise

A herniated bladder?

Hugs to you Louise. You've been on this road so long. I agree with the wait and see approach. I'm so sick of doctors I cancelled all my apts.....except I am trying a new neurologist for my RLS....but if I don't get good answers I'm DONE with doctors.

s to all my sisters.

A herniated bladder?

Thanks, everyone!

It helps so much to be able to come here and express everything.

I feel pretty good for the most part. The hernia doesn't really bother me, it's just the constant worry that something else might go wrong, you know?

Karen, I cleaned out my email address book and now I realized I kept the wrong address for you! Please e-mail me with the right one!

Hugs to everyone,

Louise
