Six week checkup LSH

Hi everyone - I haven't been around for awhile but just wanted to give everyone an update! I went to my six week appt this morning and was given the a-ok for everything. They didn't do an internal because a) I feel really good and b) I haven't had any intercourse! If I start to have intercourse (highly unlikely as I have no one to do it with) I am supposed to call them back to have an internal done, otherwise I go back in 3 months for a med check as I am still taking the anti-depressants! The only side effect that I am still having is horrible heartburn which I just called and made an appt with my primary care physician for.. The ob-gyn suspects that it is gall bladder problems, which since both my mother and maternal grandmother had both of their gall bladders removed although they both had that done before their hysterectomies. Other than that I am doing great. I am still looking for a job, and my boys are driving me crazy! Whew, these last six weeks were a lot harder than I had anticipated, but the dr. said this morning that I probably had been on the extreme end of the pain scale, and that it would probably be a few more weeks until my energy level was completely back to 100%. I would say that I am going at 95% now so that is good. I will also say that I would never have gotten to this point without all of you and I am so grateful to each and everyone of you! Thank you so much!

Amy,

I am so glad you are doing well...Hey 95% aint too shabby at 6 weeks! I imagine that most of us were operating at far less than that before our surgeries. Good luck with the job hunt, good news is you feel good and that will undoubtedly come across in any interviews you have. Keep us posted as time goes on. There are so few of us that have the LSH, that I know the LIWs having this procedure are aching to know how we are all doing post op. Take Care!

Hi, so glad your 6 week check was fine. Unfortunately for me my gyni is away so my 6 wk check will not be until 8 wks (only 5 wks post op at the mo).
Good luck with the rest of your recovery

hugs

Amy, I think in some ways our docs do us a disservice by saying how "easy" the surgery is. I had a TLH on 8/20 and it took WAY longer to feel better...even now, my energy is really low. My doc chalked it up to my surgery being twice as long as anticipated and having a lot more damage inside than expected. My personal theory is it is STILL the same recovery time as any hysterectomy and not so "easy".
Hang in there!
