New to Board....

Hi,

I just located this Board (Yeah!!)!! I had a TVH on August 25th and also had a bladder lift. The TVH went well, but it has taken about 6 weeks for my bladder to get back to "normal". I had to catherize myself after every "pee" when I first got home and then measure the results. I was really worried that my pee woudn't get back to normal, but it finally has.

Now, here's my problem(s) and I'm hoping I can get some help from all of you. My hubbie and I waited until 10/20 (which was almost 8 weeks since the surgery) before having sex. Everything was going fine for about 10 or more minutes and then I had some really bad pain (somewhat like trapped gas) and then I bled some. By the next morning I didn't have any pain, and the bleeding (which was minor) had stopped. I have a call in to the dr. but yet to hear anything from him (the recording at the dr. is for a call-back within 72 hours - - military hospital).

Also, I was very dry. I never had that problem before the surgery. I have my ovaries so I didn't think I would need hormones. My cervix is gone though. I figure I'm going to have to use some kind of cream for lubrication. Does anybody have a recommendation?

I'm glad I found this board.......Thanks!!

Hi VegasChick and welcome!

I'm glad you have a call into your doc. Takes sooo long for them to respond I know!

Your problem may have been that you were too dry. When I was too dry, it became painful and I had a pinkish discharge. I had problems for a while and I kept one ovary. The surgery can make your ovaries as they say "go to sleep" and it can take a while for them to wake up fully. Mine took about 10 weeks to level out but everybody is different. Now I'm back to normal wetness wise. I've found the best things to use for dryness for sex is K-Y Jelly and Astroglide. Both are available in the grocery store usually in the feminine or contraceptive aisles. I had problems with the store brands (I had a rash and irritation from one of the ingredients) but never the name brand.

Hope you get a call soon! Take care!

Amy
