fur babies....

Hi ladies,

I am scheduled for a LAVH/LSO on Nov 10... I have fur baby that loves to sleep on my lap, he's like my own personal heating pad. Is it going to be a problem? He weighs around 12 lbs...

I know it's a stupid thing to worry about , but I find myself worrying more about little stupid things, than big things...

thanks

fur babies....

Hi - I had a TAH/BSO and was told not to lift anything (or anybody!) over 5lb. for the first 6 weeks. So I wasn't able to pick up my two darlings (8lbs & 12lbs.) but that didn't stop me snuggling with them and alowing them sit on my lap. Just avoid letting them walk or sit on your abdomen. But honestly in the beginning, I wasn't sitting as much as lounging...just do what's comfortable and be good to yourself.

Hi ,
im sorry I do not have one
,but im sure if hes able to climb up on to you lap it should be ok.
I have some papper work from my pre op . that says you are not aloud to lift small children or toldlers ?.
I would check when you go in.
The questions not stupid to you its a big one and to others it may not be , but there question may not mean anything to you .
we are all different. anyway good luck ,

fur babies....

i had tah/bso on 10-09-03, i have two fur balls one 8 lbs, the other 18 lbs. I learned the hard way, the big one jumped on my incision the day i got home from the castle. Now i just be sure I have my trusty pillow in the right place. He has learned to cuddle above the pillow. No problems with that since. That tummy pillow comes in handy all the time.

Good luck in your up coming surgery.

I have a cat that loves to get up on my belly and "knead dough." I definitely had to watch him while I'm still healing. He acts put out that I put my hands over my incision every time he jumps up!

Just keep a nice soft bed pillow on you tummy at all times -especially while sleeping- and you will be okay. As long as they don't jump on your tummy, they can lay and snuggle on your lap. I have two babies (8 and 12 lbs) and we all have enjoyed our 5 weeks together. It will be hard on all 3 of us when I return to work next week.

fur babies....

I have a 17 year old who lost a leg to cancer about 3 years ago. She can't jump up on her own so I was lifting her from my first day home. She weighs about 10 pounds.

Yoda was my constant companion while I recuperated on the couch. Mainly, she snuggled up to my butt when I was lying on my side and it was quite a comfort.

It was REALLY hard to go back to work after 6 weeks of almost constant togetherness--for both of us.

What did me in was when my beloved sister came for a few days to help me out. She brought my 2 month old nephew (and Godson). I couldn't help but pick him up and I could tell that I was doing a !

It helps if you can sit down and then lift your companion. Just be careful. Our animal friends are so important during our recovery.

Hi Deb,

I had LAVH and LSO plus other repairs and I was told I could not lift more than 6 pounds. Laying down resting on your side your fur baby could lay aside you and snuggle. I use to have a actually wished I had one while stuck in bed so long. I get too attached and heart broken when I have to give them up or something happens. Love, ((((STITCHER))))
