What questions to ask re: Pathology report

Hi, Ladies.

I am getting nervous now. I had my TAH/BSO on 10/21 and will see my oncologist for the pathology results tomorrow. I was diagnosed with Uterine cancer but was told staging could not be done until TAH was done. My oncologist feels that radiation may be in order... but does not have exact results.
He said after the surgery that he found a tumor in my uterus (I thought there were just cancer cells in the uterine lining. I know it has entered the myometrium - but he seems concerned about the tumor.

Does a tumor mean something else ? Sorry if I sound a little stooopid right now.... I just do not know what questions to ask.

S to all
Jana

What questions to ask re: Pathology report

Hi, Jana. I think that by now, you're probably either done seeing your oncologist or your on your way. I hope your visit went well and that he/she answered your questions. If not, or if you think of more questions, you can always call him back up. (That's what I did with my doctor after my surgery and he was always available to take my calls.)

I, too, was found to have cancer in the lining of the uterus (in addition to finding a separate cancer in the ovaries) which spread down to the top of the cervix. I don't know that tumor has an alternate meaning, although my radiologist used to refer to the "tumor" when he was giving me updates on the radiation treatment. I finally pinned him down one day (because any "tumor" I had was removed and so why did he keep saying the "tumor looked good"?) and he confirmed that it's just the way they refer to the area in which the tumor was found.

I see that you're from RVC. I'm from Mass Park. Where was your surgery done? Who was your surgeon?

I hope that your recovery is going well. Please touch base and let us know how you're doing.

Best.

What questions to ask re: Pathology report

Hi Maureenie,

well, the doc said I have stage 2a cancer. (I understand what that means) it appears that it spead down into the cervical canal as well. The good news is I will only need Radation - no chemo.

I was treated in Oceanside.... he is such a wonderful dr.

What is the radiation treatment like? Where did you go ?

Thanks
Jana
