10 Days till surgery......
Well I am getting a little nervous, just spoke to the Dr's office and made my pre-op appt w/dr, to answer all of my many questions I have. My biggest concern is the anesthesia (sp), when I was in for my D&C I can remember waking up to the Dr. wiping me down there. I remember my legs being up in the air and the lights. I am a large women, are the giving me enough drugs??? I don"t meet w/the anesthesialogist until the morning of surgery. Also I get deathly sick from the anesthesia. Does any know the name of the drug they give you to prevent this?
Thanks for all you help

10 Days till surgery......
HI Nan,
I don't know the name of the drug you are referring to, but you are right - there is one - and if you talk to the anesthetist and your doctor about your concerns they will know what you want.
I'm sure someone else who knows the right name (or one of the right names!) will be along soon... in the meantime, try not to stress about this too much.. .there IS an answer!!
best wishes

10 Days till surgery......
Hi,
Phenegrin (sp) is one of the drugs used to prevent nausea, I'm sure there are others too, but this is the one I was given. Be sure to talk to your doctor and the A guy about getting this early so as to prevent nausea. It's no fun after surgery, especially if you have an abdominal incision! (I was sick from the morphine after my surgery last year!)
 s,
Lisa

That is d*****ately not a pleasent experience. The anesthesiologist usually comes in before surgery to talk to you and get consent. At that time tell him/her about your previous experience and tell him you want to ensure that doesn't happen again. As far as the nausia, they have a few different meds one of the most popular is phenergan. Just tell the doctor that you get really really sick and would like something in your iv before you wake up from surgery so you don't wake up wanting to throw up. You can tell the OR nurse who is caring for you prior to your surgery that you want to talk to the anesthesiologist before surgery. They can't take you back without talking to him/her if you request it.
