helping out

My mother is going to be having her hysterectomy soon and she will be staying with my husband and I till she recovers. I am trying to do anything I can to make this easier for her, does anyone have any suggestions for me? I dont know what to do or what to expect. Thank you for any help you can give me.

She was actually the one who showed me this web site.

The doctor says she was going to try to do a vaginal hyst but it might not be possible. She is going to have it because of several reasons, shes perimenopausal and she has a couple of other conditions but i dont remember the name of them.

Hi sdpowell2003,

How sweet of you to be searching for ways to help your mom. I'm sure she will appreciate it very much.

The Pre-Op Hints and the Post-Op Hints are full of great advice that will help you to understand how to prepare for your mom's surgery and recovery.

You didn't say whether she is having a vaginal hyst or an abdominal hyst, or the reasons for her surgery, but the suggestions in those articles are good ones, regardless of the exact type of hyst.

If you can tell us just a little bit more, it would be helpful. Does your mom use a computer? One of the best ways to help would be to introduce her to this site. I know it helped me to find HS and to know that there were others who were going through surgery with me.

's to you for being such a caring daughter.
