Blood pressure

I am scheduled for a laparoscopic hysterectomy on 11/21/03. I was curious if anyone else had hypertension and it improved after your surgery.

Blood pressure

Hi Jackie,

I had hypertension before I began bleeding uncontrollably in July. The blood loss drove my blood pressure lower, and it's been lower for months. My hysterectomy was on 10/10 and I began having a visiting nurse come to my house a week ago for an infection. She takes my blood pressure daily and it's been high, which is so strange since it's been low for so long. I think it might be all the frozen meals I've been eating for lunch, they're high in sodium. I'm trying to watch my diet closer, but so far no luck.

Best of luck with your upcoming surgery.

Mary Ellen

Blood pressure

I was treated for hypertension prior to my Laparascopic hysterectomy also. I think mine was due to anxiety of the diagnosis and upcoming surgery. They gave me 25 mg of Antenelol each night for a month up until my surgery. My surgeon OK'd me to continue taking it as prescribed before, during and after surgery. After my surgery my blood pressure dropped way back to normal. I am still continuing my Antenelol until I see my primary care physician for a follow-up since he prescribed it for me. I would assume at that time he will tell me to discontinue it.

Blood pressure

My blood pressure was 156/90, so the gyn sent me to a gp for treatment the next day. At his office it was 132/100 before and after my appointment. I am taking a pill used to treat high blood pressure and edema. I am not feeling any different, but my ankles are not swollen!

My diastolic bottom number will run in the 90's which is high for me. I notice it more when I have my period. I am very curious to see if it improves after surgery.

For Jackie

So...are you taking any kind of meds at this point? if so, what?
i have an appt. tomorrow to check on mine - it runs between the mid 80's to 90 for the diastolic and 130 - 144 for the other
i also have GAD (general anxiety disorder) and since i've decided to have the surgery my anxiety is WAY up so that could be impacting it too.

Blood pressure

Mine was ranging about 145/88 most likely due to anxiety so my primary physician put me on ANTENELOL 25mg once a day. I noticed after my surgery when they would check my temp and pressure every 90 minutes that I was ranging around 120/65. I still take my Antenelol until my primary physician follows up with me in two more months. Im sure he'll take me off of it at that time.
