I have had a really good recovery but suddenly my whole stomach is crampy sore I actually took a pain pill last night is this normal? I am so disappointed I had been doing so well until now I guess maybe it is possible I overdid it a little.

Any *new* pain needs to be reported to your doctor. At 4 1/2 weeks post op you should be feeling a little better each day. Pleas let us know what your doctor says about it.

It sure sounds like you may have overdone it if you're having "crampy sore" type pain. I'm at 8 weeks post op and I still get that feeling, along with some not-so-nifty if I do too much. I've found that an ice pack on my tummy, alternated between just above my incision and the area just under my rib cage, helps as well.

If the pain continues, it wouldn't hurt to give the doctor a call just to reassure you.

You probably tried to do too much. I am 3 1/2 months post-op but still can tell if I pick up too much, or bend too much, etc. It wil get better. My doctor said take the pain meds when I needed them instead of trying to tough it out.

thanks i just needed reassurance I really do not feel like calling the dr about it yet just because i know i overdid it the past couple of days lifting pulling etc.. alos I went to a cancer specialist in another town about 2 hours away (had to get special referral from insurance) so i feel kida lost about who to call the one who did surgery or my regular OB I have been taking it easy today just laying around and pain is gone so.... Now i am just rethinking going back to work at 6 weeks I may stay out for 8 weeks.

I had a lot of pain weeks 4 and 5 post. I was sure I was not going to make it back to work the next week at 6 weeks. I had a general achiness inside, burning incision, and a sciatic-nerve -running -down -my-leg type backache week 5 post which was due to being very active. I was following my DR orders and gradually increasing my activity level, but with 3 children to keep up with you can guess how active I was. I didn't take any pain meds at the time only because I was so used to that kind of pain all the time it wasn't that horrible for me, if you know what I mean. Looking back, I probably should have taken something to feel better. It just didn't cross my mind to.
That is my experience with week 5 post op from a TAH. Two steps forward; one back for awhile. Hang in there. It does get better with time.
