4 wk appt will someone go for me? LOL

I had a TVH (kept both ovaries) on Oct. 10th. I have an check-up tomorrow. When the office called today to confirm I asked the nurse what he would be doing tomorrow. She said a pelvic exam. I still ache (belly & back) cant get up and down stairs very well at all and I was wondering if someone else would go to appt for me. :-) Will this exam hurt? I guess I'm afraid of the unknown. LOL Before surgery the doc tried to explain what would be happening in the op room but I said I didnt want to know. I was ok with the unknown then. Now I want to know what they did in there and what they will do tomorrow!

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I had a TVH two weeks ago and went to my doctor yesterday to go over my pathology results and get a copy of her surgical notes. The surgical notes were very interesting. A lot of medical mumbo jumbo, but with the internet I was able to look up most of the terms to figure out what they meant. But it was literally a start to finish of what they did. Not gory, just clinical.

BUT, the big thing I wanted to mention here is that even though I wasn't due for my post op exam, I mentioned that I had a different odor going on since the surgery. Not bad, just different. So she jumped at the chance to take a look. Ugh! But I have to tell you that it wasn't bad at all. She used a tiny speculum and was extremely careful not to move it around much. She took a look and said that the odor was probably from the stitches (more of a metallic odor). Now I don't want to think about how she determined that, but anyway ...

Not to be too graphic, she also did her usual exam with her hands, which was a bit more uncomfortable, but not painful. She wanted to feel the cuff to feel the texture of the healing areas. It really wasn't bad. I was afraid I'd have cramping and such afterwards, but nothing.

Thanks for the info on the surgical notes too cause I would really like to see mine. The day of surgery I was really out of it (all day actually) they had a hard time waking me up. My temp was only 94 and I was hot.
The Dr told my mom and DH i had packing and would get it out the next morning. I remember saying as I moved myself from the OR gurney to my bed that i had to pass gas and the nurse said it was the pressure from my packing. The next day I asked when they were going to take it out and was told I didnt have any it wasnt on the chart. I asked every nurse that day and they all said the same thing. I had the odor that everyone else did but it is just about gone now but I would like to see the notes myself.

I had a TVH also and had my first pelvic at three weeks post op. When she told me she was going to do a pelvic I paniced, but it wasn't that bad for me. She was gentle. She even used one of those big swabs and removed a couple of loose stitches on my cuff. I didn't bleed afterwards or have any pain.
I did have the packing and DH and I were just talking about that last night. He was telling me how amazed he was when he saw how much gauze my Dr pulled out of me. And it did cause alot of pressure pain in my lower tummy and my back. Once it was out I didn't have any of that cramping.

I had packing in September after a myomectomy. When the doc removed the packing I told him, "Geez, you're like a freakin' magician! How much stuff did you stick up there?" He just laughed at me. It was a weird sensation.

I've been to see my doc every week since going home from the castle. I was worried that he might do an internal this week, but he just checked my incision again. I go back again next week, but he's on vacation and I'm going to see one of the other docs, so I know I wont have to worry about it next week either. I guess it'll be at 6 weeks. I'm not looking forward to the first exam, even though I had a TAH I'm still expecting it wont be the most comfortable experience.
