8 weeks post-op, hair loss, chills

Hi Everybody,

Posted this on post-op and some of the ladies suggested I post it here as well.

I'll be 8 weeks post-op on Wednesday. I had two months of Lupron equivalent here in Italy before my hysterectomy. After hysterectomy, about 5 weeks post-op, my hair started to break off, and eventually lost it all. Now my eyebrows are gone (they told me they were strong and I probably wouldn't lose them but...) and my eyelashes are starting to shed now. Also, having really bad chills. Okay, I have no hair but this is ridiculous. It's in the mid 30s to mid 50s here. I'm wearing scarves and hats on my head to keep the warm in. I do have night sweats and some hot flashes during the day.

My question: Anybody out there have anything similar? I am going for my 2 month check-up on Wednesday but when I talked to my MD on the phone about this he didn't seem to have a clue. I'd appreciate your comments and suggestions.

I feel for you. I have had alot of problems with the issue of hair loss, and I am 2 years post op. I am now on my 7th hormone and feel the problem is starting to correct itself. I am now on Vivelle Dot patch . I do remember however, before my surgery, the doctor wated me too do the Lupron shots and I heard so many bad side effects, hairloss being one, that I said no way. I beleive my whole hair loss problem has simply been the wrong HRT and the meathod of delivery. the slow distribution from the patch seems to keep the estrogen even and ongoing, unlike taking estrogen orally that can be so unpredictable. I hope things work out for you, and remember, We are all in this together.

My surgery was three years ago but I still remember having what I called "cold" flashes, never hot flashes. They lasted for about a year after my surgery. My hands and nose would just be freezing. I think it was just my body going through all the changes and also finding the right balance of hormones.
