Total Hyst 1993; Bleeding/Pain Intercourse

I had a total hysterectomy in 1993. My ovaries and cervix were all removed. I was doing fine until last year. Then I started having pain and bleeding during intercourse. The gyn could barely get the spec in. I thought I was going to jump off the table. He didn't think anything was wrong. This doesn't seem normal to me. Has anyone had this problem?

Hi Paula, I am 9 months postop and have never experienced any bleeding. I would suggest getting a second opinion. You should not be experiencing pain and bleeding after so many years. Good luck and I hope you can feel better soon.

Paula, The only time I experienced bleeding was right after my TAH. I bled for several months due to granulation at the vaginal cuff. It does not sound normal to me either to be bleeding so long after your surgery. Please get a second opinion and let us know how you are feeling. Good luck, SherryMarie

It isn't normal. I'm only 4 months post op but my doctor told me that I shouldn't bleed at all and to get into see her asap if I ever did. Go to another gyn.

I made an appt. with another doctor, but I can't get in until Nov. 22 so I'll know after that.

What you may have is a vaginal infection. Some bacterial or parasitic vaginal infections can cause bleeding and big time irritation. Did your doctor do a wet prep or vaginal culture? Keep us posted.
