What is in store for me?

I am 25 and am having surgery on Dec. 19th. I am wondering what physical problems I will have afterwards. I have had a c-section and a tubal ligation so I am not new to surgery but am wondering what long term effects I will have. I will be keeping both ovaries and cervix. Anyone want to throw in some information for me here? Thank you for any responses.

What is in store for me?

HI Sherrie,

No one can say what the long term issues after surgery will be for any one woman.....

however, there are some general principles that seem to be broadly applicable to just about everyone.

Generally
2 weeks of not driving
6-8 weeks off work, not lifing anything much over 10 lbs
gas pains and problems with constipation for several weeks
some pain (though not always very much)
fatigue - which can last for months.

the "base" healing takes about 6-8 weeks, and then it takes a further 6-12 months for us to get our energy back and feel "over" the surgery.

YOu might want to look at the Pre-Op Hints (click here) and the Post-Op Hints (click here), - there is a lot of information there, that will help you to prepare for your surgery and recovery.

Please ask lots of question!!! (and don't forget to edit your profile with your surgery list so that you'll show up on the calendar.... that way you will be on the best wishes lists.
