busy, though brain-dead

Only seven more days until I go to the Castle.

I am trying to "pace" myself, make lists (and stick to them), and prepare my family for my departure, however, I find I can barely concentrate...I will go up or down the stairs and not even remember what I was going to do. I'll ask a question, and then not even remember the answer! Does anyone else have this problem? Is this absent-minded, muddle-headedness normal?

I find I cannot sleep (although that seems to be the norm for the past three months) and now when I have been lucky enough to fall asleep-I wake up in the middle of the night in a panic. I really feel I am going bonkers.

I'm trying to relax, but find it difficult. I'm getting a "new-do" on Friday, and a one hour massage (yeah-yippy-skippy ) however I feel as though I need to get everything super-organized as if I will never return...Is this normal behavior before hysterectomy?

me too!

I'm sooo glad I read your post!! I feel the same way! Half way through decorating the Christmas tree Sunday I had a crying breakdown because I couldn't find the tinsel I wanted. I went to the closet this morning before I left for work and just stood there. I had no idea then or now what I was looking for!! The nights are the worst!

Ladies, I completely understand!!!! I'm a bit after you all (12/16) but I am feeling the time crunch!! I have SOOO much stuff to get done, I too am in the process of cleaning and organizing. I really should be rational...my house won't be THAT clean after I'm in the castle for 4 days! I will have all the same people here with out me to clean up after them! As for the memory, um wait a minute, what was I talking about? If I don't do something the INSTANT I think of it, forget it! I'll simply forget. This morning as I was getting ready to leave, I was wandering around with one shoe on, searching for it's mate. Every day is a challenge, like a big game of memory, with no winner!!! It will be over soon however and we will all think clearly again!

I've had "brain drain" since my FP told me I had big fast growing fibroids that needed treatment, and referred me to GYN! And I've always been very organized...it's driving me nuts!!!!!!

It's good to know this is normal, and someday it'll go away!!

I'm feeling it too. With 9 days to go, I feel like I'm getting dumber by the day! I've been sooo absent-minded, (especially at work). This is unlike me...I usually pride myself on being organized, having a good memory, etc. I'm finding all that is going down the drain as I get closer to surgery. The house cleaning thing is another story entirely. I spend the whole weekend, (every weekend), cleaning and doing laundry so that things will be in order each Monday when we start a new week. Usually by Tuesday, everything is back to square one. I've been trying to tell them that Mom won't be able to clean up after them when I'm recovering from surgery. They aren't exactly "rehearsing their new roles" yet!

Now I'm just feeling wiped out. I think I did too much worrying, cleaning, Christmas shopping, etc. and I caught a cold 2 days ago. I am desperately trying to get rid of it so my surgery isn't postponed after ALL this waiting, (3 months worth).

I think we need to be good to ourselves and realize that not everything will get done, (or more important, STAY done). Getting the hair done and massage is a great idea!

I am glad that I read your post and found out that I am not alone in this . I have 7 days also before mine and I am making lists trying to get everything organized at work, home plus get some xmas shopping done. I keep making lists for what I have to do or pick up at the store, then half the time I can't even find the darn list.
