Vaginal dryness

2nd post - different topic: I am 9 mos post op from TAH/BSO and I am developing a "pressure" feeling in the ol' "nether" region. Sometimes it is so bad I feel like I am waddling to accomodate the sensation. While I do think I feel internal pressure, I also have quite a sensation at the vaginal opening that I can't quite describe other than maybe it is a "dryness". I know that vaginal dryness is a result of menopause, but I guess I don't really know what it would feel like, because I have not had any feelings like it until now - I do take Activella (estrogen/progestin) for my hot flash symptoms and other than the hot flashes and nausea I have not had any other menopausal symptoms. Can anyone descibe for me their experiences with vaginal dryness? Again, thanks for any input.

Vaginal dryness

Hi Skits in my experience, it's felt kind of like the beginnings of a yeast infection... sort of itchy, scratchy, a little burning sensation... it bugs me when I walk or sit; but then when I check there is no discharge. I haven't had it bad enough to get any spotting but some women have.

Have you seen this article on vaginal dryness ? Perhaps something in there might help.

Vaginal dryness

Hi Skits

I feel as though all the moisture's been sucked out of that area. I find the crotch of trousers annoying when I'm really dry....the whole vulval area becomes super sensitive. It's quite hard to describe actually now that I'm trying to.

I find putting some almond oil on my finger and smearing it inside the vagina and all around the vulval area soothes it instantly, and that's how I know it's dryness and not something else. It's a bit like when your hands are really dry and you put hand cream on them and they feel great, just like that. It's immediate relief.

It also feels like your vaginal walls are rubbing together when you walk....now that's not nice.

Wish I could describe it better but it's kind of an odd feeling. It sort of hits me out of the blue, lasts a few hours and then disappears again. Quite weird!!!!!

All the best.
