Driving Conditions

Hi!
I have a general question: How long should one wait to drive? I'm 5 weeks post-op and seatbelts are scary right now! My surgeon said I could drive when I felt ready to. (Yes, he was a man---sorry). I feel like I'm on SURVIVOR....but I don't see that million dollar check, so, I'm wanting to drive home now. I won't ask if this is normal....hehe....just wanted to get the advice of others such as we. Thanks!

Driving Conditions

I was driving at 2 1/2 weeks, the day the doctor said I could. I was worried about the seatbelt but didn't notice it at all. I have been on a couple of hour plus trips and then notice a bit of discomfort from the belt, but nothing major.

Driving Conditions

I haven't started driving yet since my hysterectomy. However, after my myomectomy many years ago, I made sure I had a pillow between my tummy and the seatbelt while driving. It doesn't have to be a large one, but something that will protect your tummy in the event the seatbelt tightens. I'm hoping to start driving next week.

Good luck and my prayers are with you.

driving

Hi---I drove at 4 weeks. It was only around the block for a haircut and then right back home. I drive an automatic and felt comfortable at that point. My doctor told me I could drive around the 3 week mark, but I waited. It seems everyone is different. Good luck ------kangaa

Driving Conditions

I began driving at 2 weeks p/o. I drove to the doctor for my first checkup. There were no problems with short outings. By 3 1/2 weeks I had driven to visit my parents, an hour's drive from my home. My doctor also left the decision about when to start up to me. The seat belt never bothered me. Of course. I wasn't on any pain meds by the time I drove. They made me absolutely loopy! Ellen
