Dry facial skin - on Premarin

I'm on Premarin 0.3mg and am feeling great.
The only "problem" I'm experiencing is very, very dry skin across my nose, cheeks and chin.
I'm using moisturizing facial wash and a moisturizer but its almost like a slight sunburn, with flaking skin.
I wonder if the low dose is the reason?

Was wondering if I should see my family doc who specialized in dermatology?

Dry facial skin - on Premarin

This is a great question. I know that since my hyst I've had more dry skin but then I have dry skin anyway. But I have noticed more drying on my face along with the flakes too. I went to the dermotologist recently for a mole check. He was removing 4 spots off my skin and in his all over exam he said, "You've got seborreah on your face. What are you putting on it?"

I was astonished. I've been to dermotologists all my life with my ongoing skin disorder....and this was never an issue. Then the light came on....since my surgery I've developed sometime new....a dryness that on my face is labeled with a name. HA!

I walked out with bandaids covering my biopsied places (two on my face and two on my back) and some cream for my face flakes.

I'm not so sure it is premarin as the culprit either....I am on compounded hormones.....and have heard of many women complain of new dry skin since their hyst...and they represent many different HRT.

Check it out with the dermotologist and let us know what he/she says.

Maybe a cure for all weird symptoms will be discovered someday. But this I know: You don't mess with major organs, removing them and rearranging the insides without it upsetting other systems.

Hang in there!

dr skin

thanks so much for the input...I am relieved to hear that I'm not the only one with a very dry face, or that I'm imagining it!
I intend to call my doc tomorrow and make an appointment and see what she says. She's very good with skin problems: found I had a latex reaction on my right hand which looked like raw groundmeat - due to constant contact with a MOUSE PAD! I work with computers and play with my computer when I get home, so I had LOTS of contact.
