Sharing Bed
This may sound dumb, but have any of you shared your bed with spouse immediately after coming home from the hospital? We have a king size bed our room downstairs, and the other bedrooms are upstairs. I would really like to have my DH a little closer than upstairs. I guess he could sleep on the couch?

Sharing Bed
Bevietoo, My hubby came back into our bed less than 2 weeks post-op. He'd stay around until I fell asleep, then he'd go across the hall to a spare room. It worked out great for us.We have a king size too. He was close enough to hear me if I called him, but I never needed to.

Sharing Bed
Dear Bevie,
We shared a king bed right away here also. I had lottsa pillows stuffed around me, partially as a barrier from DH, and partially cuz I am a tummy-sleeper & needed support to stay laying on my side.

Sharing Bed
OK, so there were answers about sharing bed with dh. I don't have a problem with THAT: we have a King size bed AND dh is not a mover, I am.
Now, MY problem is sharing a bed with a 5 yo: my daughter STILL spends most of her nights in our bed. She IS a mover AND a kicker. Oh, and there's also the cat: we have a huge, white cat who loooves to sleep on my hip. AND he is known to jump on us the minute he thinks we're awake.
Any experience fending off small children and over-enthusiastic, large-small pets?

Sharing Bed
Hi
We have 4 cats, one of which is a 'kneader' and another likes to sleep around/or on top of me. I solved it by keeping an extra pillow on my tummy during the daytime. They all go to the garage at night.
I did sleep on the couch for the first 3-4 nights home. I was up alot in the night to go to the bathroom & my dh is a very light sleeper-at least that way one us could sleep. I also found it easier to get up from the couch than from my queen platform bed - I did't get that nasty burning feeling from the couch.

What a great question to ask! Something I haven't even considered really. I think I am going to have to run down to the store before surgery and get one of those great big long pillows. Now that should suit me just fine

I never considered not sleeping with my husband! It was never a problem after my c-section. Now, my three year old!!! He is a mover and a jumper! Hopefully he can sense that I need to heal. We've been talking about it. Surgery is 11/1. He loves to climb in bed and do the tornado thing. My doc said she would stitch a few extras to hold up to one jump!!

sharing a bed with a child
In responce to sharing the bed with a child. I dont know if this will work for you since your child is older, but it worked like a charm with all 3 of my kids. I asked them how many pillows were on the bed. They said "2" i told them that it was a 2 person bed, but if they needed to be close to mommy they could sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor right next to me. I would wake up in the morning with one or all three kids lined up on the floor in sleeping bags. They slept great knowing that i was right there. I slept great, not being kicked or pushed, and most of all the dh slept great (gets very grumpy without his sleep). I have told this story to all of my friends who have young children, several of them have tried this and found that it worked like a dream for them as well. Good Luck! A 5 year old really should understand. Tell them they are getting in practice for when they have sleep overs with their friends.
