Try to stop hormones,not working

I had tah on july 25\2000,early stage cervical cancer, adenomyosis & prolaspe. Was peri-menopause before surgery due to numerous surgeries on ovaries.Sept 8,went for 6 wk checkup, went on Estrace, had hormone test done,no results yet.Doctor said I only needed it for 2 weeks, ovary was inflamed.I tried 2x to quit hormone pills but symptoms return, why? I take 1\2 1mg tablet Estrace, have ovary & am 34 yr.I see dr on Oct 20.If anyone could help figure this one out,it would be appreciated.

I'm confused. Did the doctor tell you to quit taking it before he saw you? And what are your symptoms? Hot flashes are a result of fluctuating levels so it's reasonable that they would reappear every time you stop. Cervical cancer is usually not at all estrogen dependent so that shouldn't be a concern in what you decide to do. Two weeks is a very unusual span of time to take HRT. Ovaries can take months to reawaken in what women have reported around here. I'd just stay on the HRT until you see the doc and find out what your test results are. The more you bounce around, the rougher the ride through the Jungle is.

Thanks for replying,I will try to explain though it could be long. She (the gyn) said I shouldn't be experiencing any symptoms because she left the ovary in.I explain to her I was having hot flashes, dryness, waking up soaked, either tired or couldn't sleep or stay asleep. Also brain fog, mood swings & headaches. Some symptoms I had before due to perimenopause, they became worst. Her intern said it could failure, temp, shut down or due to swelling.Intern was there that day,so gyn order hormone testing & said take hormones for 2 weeks & everything would be normal.I was to stop before next vist.Family doctor said ultrasound showed ovary deteriorating,so he thinks it has quit but women isn't his area. This is why I have to see gyn & in my area there isn't any.The family doctor has to refer you to one & then you are put on a waiting list.So when get to see one,you kinda stuck with them.

You should not have to be "stuck" with a doctor that is not helping you. Does your family doctor know anything about hormones??? I would ask for another referral. Have you told your family doc about the non response you are getting from the ob-gyn? While you are waiting for the referral, I think there are some herbs and vitamins you can take to help with some of the symptoms. Long term, I wouldn't recommend just using herbs instead of hrt as they can't replace what the hormones do for us, but short term they can help get us thru a difficult period. There is also some over the counter help available. If you will follow this link some of these have been discussed previously

Here is also two very good articles about black cohosh and red clover http://www.hormonejungle.com/blackcohosh.htm http://www.hormonejungle.com/redclover.htm
You may also wish to check your local phone book and see if you have a Compounding Pharmacy near you, you can call them and they are usually very very helpful in helping you find a doctor.
Good luck, I hope you find some relief and a doctor who will help soon.
Hugs :-)
