How long till Climaval works & aspirin whilst travelling

Hia

Hope you can help (again!)?

I have now been given my oral oestrodial ... in the form of 'Climaval 2mg' .. I have taken my first dose today (YIPEE!)

I don't want to seem to hasty, but my question is .. when will I start to see any effects that this drug is starting to work?

I really need sleep, non achy joints and my general life back .. but I also don't want to string it out another 3-4 months on, to see if there is any affect ... before I start another one?

Also, yep I have another one LOL !!! I am flying on Sunday, and my GYN told me if I do any travelling, I must take aspirin. Do you know how long before a flight I should take it .. so it works in conjunction with the HRT ? (when they operated they found ovarian varicose veins and are just playing it cautious just incase!)

Hope you can help?

Thanks - what would we do without yoU !

Hi Toni I'm glad to hear you've started on the Climaval! The oral estrogens take slightly longer than the transdermals to have an effect, because they have to pass through your liver and out into your tissues through your bloodstream and build up to a critical concentration first. I would say you ought to feel at least a little relief within a day or two, but it can take a couple of weeks or so to reach a steady state concentration in your tissues, so do hang in there before making a judgment about whether it's working for you or not.

About the aspirin... are you taking aspirin normally, for heart health? My DR has me taking an aspirin a day all the time (except within a couple of weeks of any surgery)... you might ask yours whether it makes sense for you. If not, then I'd say you could start taking the aspirin at least a couple of days before you leave on your trip and keep taking it until you're back home.

Have a great trip! I hope the estrogen is working for you soon.

Thanks Linda, for your help .. the hot flushes have started with a vengenance today YUCK !!! I will sit them out (and hope that they start kicking in soon !

The aspirin ... this is a real toughy .. I suffer from asthma - so I am not meant to take aspirin, I did question this with my GYN and he still advised me to take a 'low' dose whenever I was due to travel .. but he wasn't really specific as to when and how (and with the brain fog I completely forgot to ask LOL!) It won't do me any lasting harm - just have to be more cautious that I have my asthma sprays on me at all times ! So I can probably manage a day before !!

Thanks again, for all your help .. it is really appreciated !
