Busiest Ever Day Thread ... Tuesday 16th December

HI Girls

Now who suggested this title yesterday ??? I've even put the date in english format for you - as a special treat

Thanks for all your s last night I really neeeded them .. you are all truly the BEST !

Yep Nancy .. I'm just like you .. with the ever old philiosophy 'tomorrow is another day!' and indeed it is .. my humour was lost last night, DH was away on business, and DS was fast asleep .. those quiet nights are the worst and make me brood for what no longer is !

Okay some inbetween the itchies, hotflushes and everything else that has already happened this morning what am I doing today ????

Well, I'm at work at the moment .. yep grabbed a few spare minutes to come on-line ... at lunchtime I'll be going home, grabbing a sandwich and then going to school (got the last '6' purses to make YAHOO !!! Then I'll have made over 70 of them !!)

Then home for laundry, ironing, packing, oh and resting my ankle (its still a very unique colour LOL!)!!! Tried on my ski boots accompanied with skis last night !!! YEP they fit and they work and with the poles, I was simulating parallels down the mountain, DS was so jealous (as we hire his stuff .. not worth paying so much for something that we use for 1 week, adn he'll have grown out of them by next season!) ... only 4 DAYS TO GO .. I'm so excited !!!!!!!!!!!!

DS made me laugh last night .. he now refuses point blank to cuddle or kiss me any more .. this has happened overnight .. and his excuse .. well wait for it 'I've got a GF' AARRGGHH my baby is growing up and I need lots of cuddles at the moment LOL LOL LOL !!!

We got the christmas CD in the car today, and sang all sorts of xmas tunes on the way to school and work (it was hilarious!) .. if anybody can hear us IT WAS NOT ME !!!!!!!! yeo - I sound like a cats chorus (DH and DS are always telling me too 'shut up!' and 'Don't give up the day job'!)

Right gotta go and get some work done .. see if we have helped save many lives in the last couple of months

s to all and I really mean that .. will catch up with all the posting that was done yesterday

Toni xxxxxxxx

s Toni! Pickled onion, huh? Sounds good actually but I can't say that I've had them. They sound salty and delicious. Do you just eat them plain? And are they terribly OFF p?
Ohh, that smarts when they don't want to be affectionate! Well, I'd tell him that girls love it when boys are sweet to their mothers!
Tell him we girls all know the code: "Watch how he treats his mother, it is how he'll treat his wife."
Don't bother telling him what we say about the boys who are TOO nice to their mothers!

My cold is quite there but at least most of my shopping is finished. I have a doc's appt (for the osteopenia) today but otherwise can take it fairly easy. Hot tea & wrapping gifts could be my day.

Um, Pat? Super Mom title does NOT fit! SOMETIMES I am composed, not always! I'm usually a pretty straight shooter.
Thanks anyway!

CRS. Geez. Shirley, hope the hand is feeling markedly better today! What an ordeal!

Water & veggies. That's what I need today. Will get on it. Like Katie said, if we do as well as possible when we can, then the celebrations we attend won't do so much damage. OP OP OP!

See you all later.
xena
Everyone, I send lots of s of encouragement, comfort, and friendship to you all today!

Busiest Ever Day Thread ... Tuesday 16th December

Good Morning All! I'm up earlier than I've been lately. DH and DD have a Christmas party at work today, so today is all mine. I've got to run and get some more Christmas cards. Every year it seems to be more, but I love sending them. I use to get them done in October or November, then just have them sitting here until I was ready to mail them. The last few years have left me very busy at that time of the year. I'm going to have to re-think that next year as mid-December is definately too busy.
The fish are now happily in DD's room on her newly cleaned off dresser. She's funny at the holidays. She is one of these people who thinks that every single nook and crannie in the house needs to be spotless for the house to look like it's ready for Christmas. The nice thing about that is she'll usually jump right in and do most of that cleaning. It's something she really enjoys. The bad thing, is she doesn't care what she moves or where she puts it. That can be bad for me, as I know exactly what is in all of my piles that are here and there. But I do like the fish out of the kitchen.
Let's see, what can I remember.

Emily, You're right about getting use to the kids being gone. DH and I have re-discovered "Us" time. After 18 years or so of family time, which is wonderful, we do truely enjoy the "Us" time now. And I love having DD home. Some days are just more trying than others.

BSQ, I too am afraid to check out that recipe. It wouldn't go at all with my FF/SF pudding that I just made for everyone.

Sandi, How's Bella this morning. Poor little thing, sounds like the trip to the vet wore her out. Take care with all that snow. Do they keep your roads cleaned off fairly well? I know where DD is, with the lake affect snows, they do a much better job of cleaning and removing snow than they do here. Just more adapt to doing it I guess.

Melissa, Good job on getting so much shopping done. I too might head out for a few things this morning. I find I don't usually like soup out at sandwich shops. It's something that could be so good that they don't seem to take the time to make sure it is.

Sherry, Did DH make it to the end of the game? We never do on Monday night. I wish they'd start that game earlier. Hope your weather improves soon. Glad to hear that DH is feeling good enough to enjoy the game.

Pat, I think the tea sounds lovely. And surely those calories don't count. I went in last year for a check up. Dr. asked me if I had eaten breakfast (which I hadn't had time to do) and I said yes. She said, well, I'll have to re-schedule you for your blood work. I'll give you the slip and you just need to go in when you've been fasting all night. (Well, since I had already and the lab was right there, I went ahead and stopped when I was in). Next time, I'll remember to tell the truth, and say I didn't eat.

Toni, Your trip is getting so close. I hope you are able to really enjoy the skiing. It sounds like your ankle is doing pretty good. Where my DD went to High School, they have what they call a Ski Swap every year. People bring skis and equipment to sell and others come to buy. Mostly it's kids equipment that they've grown out of after one season. Most of the stuff is in really good shape, and the prices are low. They just set it up in the school cafeteria.

Xena, I hope you can completely shake this cold soon. Everyone who gets this seems to have trouble getting rid of it. Nasty stuff. I hate going out, but what do we do at this time of year. I do try and keep my hands clean after coming and going in and out of stores. I also avoid any area where I can here anyone sneezing or coughing. (Although I have to take DD to the doctor tomorrow, but once we get the paperwork filled out, I may wait for her in the car, since she's almost 22 and doesn't want me to go back with her. Why sit there in the waiting room full of germs, right?).

Ok, I'm off to get ready here. I'll check back in when I get a chance. Otherwise, I'll have a book and a half to read and catch up on. But this is such a great support team. I love having everyone to be accountable to.

Glad to hear that Shirley still has all of her fingers and that Toni's ankle is getting better, even if it does have some unique coloration these days.

Hang in there, Ann. Hope your lunch with a buddy is a good one.

Which island? Maui - Kaanapali side, just north of Black Rock if you've been there. Yes, this is the vacation we have postponed twice now. My stress levels have been out of sight and I really need this trip. We know this will be our last trip with our "boys" who are really men if I don't look at them with "mom vision", so its a little sad.

Everyday I say I'm going to "buckle down" and get back on track with food, but it just isn't happening. Just too much stress at this point, too many teary days. My doc was nice enough to fix me up a care package of Effexor samples and a script yesterday to help me get thru some issues that are only going to get worse before they get better. Did I ever say what a wonderful woman my doc is?? Hopefully Effexor won't make the food thing any worse, guess I'll have to wait (weight?) and see. I know from past experience that I had some significant problems sleeping with Effexor, even when I took it at 5am. Guess I'll find out.

Gotta get some work done, hope you all are well.

Good morning, All!

Busy in here already and it's only four thirty in the morning!!!

Toni, over 70 purses?!? Wow! You are now a pursemaking pro! LOL Are you counting the hours yet instead of the days?

Xena, nice steamy hot tea and a blankie - that's my Rx for the day. You've got to kick this before xmas! Take your temp to make sure it's not the flu...

Nancy, Bella's doing a lot better this morning - the effects from her booster shot seem to have worn off. They do an excellent job of plowing the highway that goes thru town - that's the county highway department, but they don't do a very good job of plowing the streets here in town - that's the city's responsibility. My only real freakout between here and work is a hill that comes down to a stoplight where two highways intersect.

Lisa, can I come, too? I'm quiet, don't eat much and would stay out on the beach a lot...

Melissa, a pair of plyers? Ow ow ow! Poor kid.

Sherry, you and I need to make a pact on drinking water - I'm not doing very well either.

Pat, did your doc say anything about stopping the meds since your bp is down? I take diuretics, too, and I'm hoping to be able to stop them at some point.

Just finished reading the latest storm warning which says we're due to get about six to eight more inches between now and noon. Not going to be able to find my house soon.

I haven't done anything yet this morning but plan to walk/bike/8mm as soon as DH gets up. I'm taking the leftovers from last night's dinner for lunch today cause I'm too lazy and uncreative to figure out anything else.

Have a wonderful OP Tuesday - is it only Tuesday?

Morning all

Well my pants still are tight but you have to I do this every year. Today I have oatmeal for breaky with skim milk salad for lunch and chicken and salad for dinner. A piece of fruit for snack. I plan on drinking tons of water and getting to the gym. So all should be well today.

Shirly that is great that your fingers are going to be okay. Good going on the cream and drugs hee hee. No sense in being in pain. Don't over do it at Curves with your hand.

Toni your trip sounds great. We buy our girls used equipment every year as they grow so fast. The equipment is great and the girls have their own stuff. But we do ski all season. We are going again on Saturday. The hills are small but it gets us outside.

I just want you gals to know how great Sandi is. She helped me with my avatar and had to email me 3 times to help me out. Thanks Sandi I really appreciate your time and learning new things

Xena sorry about your cold. The stomach flu is going around like crazy here. I keep hoping to miss the whole thing. I just dont want any of us to get sick at Christmas. That would be awful.

Nanc I remember my mom telling me the same thing when I came home from University. She was happy to see me but happy to see the backside of me as well hee hee. I am glad you and DH are enjoying each other. Because sometimes it is the opposite. You wonder who the heck the person you are living with is. It amazes me on how many people seperate or divorce after the kids are gone.

Nel food is not great here either. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I am really trying to be good at work. Come January 2nd I have my diet all planned. I am really good at goal setting and following through. I hope to get the 15 pounds off in a couple of months.

Emily yup it is hard for me to be depressed. I always feel bad for those who suffer with that. I know it can be very difficult and trying. We should thank the stars that we only have our weight to deal with.

Ann Enjoy your clean house. Do you want to come and do mine PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Bobby those dessert things sound delicious. I am having a very hard time saying no to anything right now. Yikesssssssss

Okay ladies I am off

Talk to you all later

Katie

Busiest Ever Day Thread ... Tuesday 16th December

Hi gang

Ok, read it here first.........I AM SKIPPING THE GYM TODAY, AND TAKING A ME DAY.........yes you saw it first, right here in the BEST forum of Hystersisters.........

My best buddy called yesterday.........today is the only day she has off from work between now & Xmas.........so I am headed to her house this morning where I will give her the pile of stuff I have for her (her cool birthday present the froggie birdbath, a bag of tangerines from the neighbors, several recent magazines I'm done with -- she reads them then passes them on -- packages of peanut butter and oatmeal cookies -- extras from baking for dh's fishing trip, and I want them OUT of the house!! And after she opens her birthday presents, we are going to exchange our Xmas gifts (yes I have a couple of those for her too.......everything flamingo, because she has an entire room decorated in flamingo!! Only in Florida!!) and go out to lunch. She needs to be home by 3:00 as she has plans for tonight with a group from her work, which works out well as I can home and get some rest before going to Brandy's extra class this week which is at 8:00 p.m.............

This was totally a spur-of-the-moment, last minute plan, but I think the day will do me good.

Part of me feels guilty for not going to the funeral, but dh and I talked about it, and I really didn't want to go without him........I tend to fall apart at these things. Plus I can't seem to find out when it is!! Nothing in the paper other than a death notice and nothing listed on the funeral home's website........I will call in a little bit (too early yet) and see if I can find out. I know some of you may look down on me for this, but I know Bert will be surrounded by family today, and my DH and I will be here.......and have been here.........all the days that his sons and daughter-in-laws and grandkids are not around and he is alone. I'm doing what is best for me, today. Enough said.

Will not be OP today........we were already talking about the goodies we would have for lunch.............sigh. Haven't been OP for several days, actually. I know I'm gaining again. Feel like all stomach these days, but the skinny jeans still fit and I keep telling myself I will get back on track.........and then I don't. Hopefully once Xmas is over with, I can get a grip on my goals again. Unfortunately I go to the doc right after Xmas and really don't want to see the scales when I get weighed and hope the cholesterol #'s don't go up. Oh it is so hard sometimes!!

Unfortunately, I also have to skip the gym tomorrow to take Mom to a doc appt and then out to lunch and of course she wants to stop at Kmart and I have to stop at the car dealer on the way home and take Brandy to her last class tomorrow night.

And I have to skip the gym Thurs as we have to drive to Ocala and pick up our new van.

This week, apparantly, is going to be a bust. Ah, well I'll get back to on Fri & Saturday. Wish my nephew would deliver the danged treadmill already! Maybe I can find time to go for a walk.......supposed to be sunny and a high of 77 degress today. I can wander around while Mom is in with the doctor tomorrow or something............yea, sure, right.....good intentions but it probably won't happen. She likes me to go in and listen to the doc with her, and that's ok too.

BSQ -- I know I'll be sorry but I'm headed to check out that recipe next thing!!

Toni -- the kiddies will love you for making all those purses! You're great!! Just like one of Santa's elves!!

Xena -- ok, straightforward SuperMom.

Sandi -- 6 to 8 more inches of snow?? Brrrrr. Wanna come visit??

Nel -- I wanna come to Hawaii too!!

Nancy -- we used to send 100's of Xmas cards. I have really cut it down in the last few years. Also I noticed that it was much later in December when we rec'd our first one and I was beginning to think we weren't going to get any! But then they started piling in and now there are some in the mailbox every day...........I love that.

Katie -- I knew someone would sneak in while I was posting, I took so long to do it. Just so you know........I'm having a hard time saying no to anything right now too. My will power took a vacation.

Ok..........gotta get going.........

's to all.........everybody feel better who needs to, get well, heal, de-stress, take care of yourselves because WE care about you!!

Busiest Ever Day Thread ... Tuesday 16th December

Hey guys ,

I have about 5 minutes so this one will be quick for me . . . Going to the alternative dentist for his evaluation this morning. May run a few errands in town afterwards before heading to work depending on how long the appt takes. Very interested to get his take on my mouth (guess Toni would say pecker, oh my, ).

I can type--it's just slower. Since each finger is bandaged, they are like little sausages, so they are spread apart and hence the typing is slower. The fingertips are fine. I do get a stinging if I type too much and don't take the pain meds.

Oh, BSQ, I have made that recipe many times. Of course, my recipe calls it something else, oh yeah, I know, Indecent Bars! I think the Chess Bars comes from the fact they are like Chess Pie. In any regard, they are very yummy.

Ann--We always support you to do what you feel is right for you! Have a wonderful day.

Okay, I'm off. Everyone have a great day . Will check in later.

Ok, I'm trying to stay caught up, so I'm posting before I go shopping. I need to get away from this computer more.

Lisa, The trip to Hawaii sounds great. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time with your "boys". They do grow up to quickly. Good luck with the Effexor. I hope it helps. I've never used it so I don't have any words of advise on it for you.

Sandi, Oh my, 6-8 more inches today. You're right, you'll not be able to find the house soon.

Katie, I think we're all going through these food issues right now. For us, the holidays were always about what foods to have tonight, (you know after the meals). It's a hard habit to break. And food seems to be everywhere you go. I notice it so much more now. Everyone wants to offer you a cookie, or cheese, or something. Your food plan for the day sounds very sensible and good for you too. I also like your long range goal. I like doing that too.

Ann, Please don't worry about not going to the funeral. Bert will understand. He'll need you more, after everyone else goes home. You'll be there for him during that time. Enjoy your day! I think you deserve it.

Shirley, Good luck at the dentist. Let us know what you find out. Oh, and rest those fingers as much as possible. No since making them sore.

OK, I'm off to brave a few stores.

Good morning...

Enjoying a sunny morning here - in between storms. It'll be a great day for skiers, and I don't.

Ann...I think its wonderful tht you're taking a spontaneous "me" day...and OK that you will not be a the funeral...you'll be there for your neighbor, and I'm sure he will understand.

Just got a bunch of Christmas cards done this am...the first, finally. My dh deleted my list/labels from the computer a few months ago, w/o putting on disk.

Last night's supper was great....the crockpot turkey, brown rice (stuffing for dh) and broccolli. And for lunch, although I really wanted to put the leftover meatloaf into a sandwich, I had it on a plate w/peaches & cottage cheese. Didn't get beyond a quart of water tho.

Toni - I always love the pickled onions in a jar of mixed pickles!

Today is off to town to see my counselor & my holistic doctor. The tri-est cream she prescribed last time hasn't helped at all...so hope she'll prescribe something else.
