headaches

I am getting bad headaches everyday. My doctor seems to think it is because I am not getting enough estrogen. I was wondering if anyone out there has had the same problem. I had been taking hrt pills but last month my doctor gave me a shot. It did not seem to help my headaches. The headaches are my only complaint with hrt. I have been told that the patches work better. Does anyone know if this is true?

headaches

Tracey,
I know how awful those hormone headaches can be. I've been dealing with them off and on since my hyst. Some of the things that helped me in the beginning were adding Magnesium to my supplements and putting a dab of progesterone cream on my neck when I felt one coming on. Are you taking the supplements recommended Here ?

Headaches can be a sign of low estrogen. However, perhaps something else is going on. I have had a thorough work up by a neurologist to check out my head just to be sure that nothing else was going on to cause the headaches.

It is possible that you may need to experiment with different delivery methods. What were you using when you were using the oral estrogen? Do you know what was in the shot the doc gave you? It may be worthwhile to look into that aspect also, that maybe you need a different brand.

It is tough dealing with the headaches. I mean if you have too much estrogen it can cause headaches and if you have too little estrogen you can have headaches. Finding the in between is the hardest thing to deal with.

I hope you can find the right amount and the best way for your body to absorb the estrogen so you can get rid of your headaches. I hope and pray for all that have to go through finding what is right for them. I also envy those who find it on the first try.

The best advice from me is to have a positive attitude eventually something has to work.

headaches

I've been having more frequent migraines and I'm not doing HRT and don't want to. I get auras with my migraines, so I pop a 600 mg ibu (sometimes 2 - I know it's a lot but it works and I pray it away) and it does work. The only other things I have noticed since my surgery in Sept is I lose a little hair and my hot flashes are red ears and I get warm. I don't sweat. I was taking black cohosh but I didn't see any change so I'm not (it was actually Remifemin) and I take calcium + D twice a day. I feel good almost all the time. I'm no longer a balistic, schizo mess. I'm much more even-keeled. A little less patient maybe, but I was never really patient anyway. I was taking levoxyl for hypothyroid. My doctor took me off shortly before surgery so I may ask her (this is my primary phys, not the gyn) to run a thyroid level and see because when my thryoid level was low in the beginning, I was losing hair. Once she put me on the levoxyl, my hair thickened up.
