Surgery yesterday, home from the castle today

I had my LAVH yesterday morning- slept all afternoon, not too much pain, not too bad. My roommate had visitors all afternoon (at least I slept through that, although my dh was irritated by it) Then, last night, wow. She snored, she coughed like she was dying of TB, she talked in her sleep, and she must have gotten up to go to the bathroom 40 times! Good thing I slept in the afternoon!

I got to keep my ovaries, although one had a small cyst, and she also found endometriosis on the back side of my uterus! I didn't know I had any.

I'm feeling pretty good, really. I'm taking it very easy, though. Mom is here, Dad is here, and dh as well. Trying to convince my Labrador that she didn't need to be in my lap (she missed me, I guess) was difficult.

Is anyone else home from their 12-30 hysts?

Welcome home! Glad to hear your surgery went well! It's true...you don't get much rest in the hospital. My care was pretty good, but it's not the same as being in your own bed.

Sounds like you've got lots of help at home right now, so take advantage of it and get lots and lots of rest!

Happy New Year

Surgery yesterday, home from the castle today

I had a LAVH/BSO on 12/22 in an ambulatory surgery center and went home on 12/23. I had a private room and awesome care--not too many people chosing to do elective surgery 3 days before Christmas. The timing got me out of cooking a big dinner for the whole family. I don't remember alot about the first day home as I slept most of the time. Christmas eve is foggy in my head. The going has been slow and my dh has been home with me the whole time, and very helpful. Let us know how you do.

back from LAVH

I just found your earlier post.

I was back the next evening from my 12/30 LAVH, removal of one ovary + some endo. I still cannot believe how good I felt in the hospital and now. I drove today and haven't had a pain killer all day on day 5. I keep regular with the motrin and don't lift the kids or vacuume and of course I can't cook or at least that's what DH thinks!

I keep waiting for the big pains but have made it through the uncomfortable BM's, the cath, the laughing, and am now walking my dog (carefully in all of our snow).

My doc appt isn't until the 12th. I think I was so relaxed yesterday I actually thought about sex. geez. Never watched so many movies in bed. A gal could get used to this!

Anyone else have it easy like this? Problems later? Seems to good to be true.

Other than the gas pains, which I can't seem to shake, I feel really good too. I can't do too much, though, or I feel pretty bad afterwards. My back starts tightening up and won't let go- but I'm able to do more every day. I won't be walking my dog anytime soon, though. We have two Labradors. I think they'd be walking ME.

I think there's a big gas bubble somewhere inside that just rolls around, breaks up, and re-forms over and over- and never goes away! My bms are fine- I was glad the Dr. told me to take a stool softener the night I got home, so I wouldn't strain, but they've been fine since. I can eat what I want, and the appetite is much better than it was at first.

I keep reading about you guys who have too much gas coming out, and I just wish I could!

I can laugh pretty much as I want to now, but sometimes I have to hold on to my tummy so it won't shake!

I hope all of you who have just come home do as well as a few of us seem to have done!
