Back from LAVH before new years - seems too easy so far!

I was back the next evening from my 12/30 LAVH, removal of one ovary + some endo. I still cannot believe how good I felt in the hospital and now. I drove today and haven't had a pain killer all day on day 5. I keep regular with the motrin and don't lift the kids or vacuume and of course I can't cook or at least that's what DH thinks!

I keep waiting for the big pains but have made it through the uncomfortable BM's, the cath, the laughing, and am now walking my dog (carefully in all of our snow).

My doc appt isn't until the 12th. I think I was so relaxed yesterday I actually thought about sex. geez. Never watched so many movies in bed. A gal could get used to this!

Anyone else have it easy like this? Problems later? Seems to good to be true.

I had my LAVH about 2 years ago. Although the external incisions are smaller you have still had a major surgery with plenty of internal work done. You have had major organs removed, ligaments reattached and you have numerous internal sutures. The initial recovery period is 6-8 weeks. Often it can take many months to be completely healed.

The main things for you to do now that you are home are to get lots of rest, drink plenty of water, and take some short walks aound the house to help prevent blood clots.

You may find it hepful to read the post-op list of things Allowed? Not Allowed?.

Resist the urge to do anything that my compromise your recovery, no matter how tempting. You get one chance to have a complete and uncomplicated recovery - pamper yourself and let you body heal. We care about you!
