Desperately seeking my Mind.....

Hi Everybody, I'm 37 and I go in for a tah and possibly having my ovaries and tubes removed also on Monday 1-12-04. Tomorrow I have my pre op appt. and I know I should have a ton of questions and I do. It's just that when I go to write them down I go blank and I know I wont remember when I’m there. I set my date with my dr a few months ago and it's like Ive been in lala land or something. All I could think is No More Pain..No More Periods .... Yay Me! and then yesterday all of a sudden it was like reality hit. So many things to do to get ready and so many questions I need to ask. I’ve heard so many things about women who just have hyst. and keep their ovaries having to go back because of adhesions or cysts. I’m thinking of asking him to remove them healthy or not. But then I think about menopause and the crying, personality change, migraines etc... I don’t know what I want let alone what I need. Please help, I’m very worried about the pain directly after op. and the changes over the next 6 months. I know I’ve made the right choice about the hyst. I’ve been dealing with this pain for about 5 years now ever since my tubal ligation. Dr. kept saying the pain would get better with time but it didn’t and every month it feels like I’m in labor. Well thanks for listening, I’m not sure what I’m asking or even what I’m thinking right now, lol Just know that I’m scared, nervous, anxious and have a million things on my mind. Thanks for your patience.

Blessings,

Desperately seeking my Mind.....

Hi Lynn,
Honest, if your ovaries are fine, don't remove them. Nothing can really replace their function.
Many are on HRT, many are not. If the problem is in the uterus, then address that. If there are other methods, you may choose to investigate those venues first, before this surgery.
Ask if there could be another probable cause for the pain and would the removal of the ovaries be advised. A second, third, fourth, or even more opinions are not abnormal, but may even be advisable. I saw about 12 professionals before I finally came to a decision that was best for me. I really liked the questions from this site to ask the Dr in addition to all the ones I had. You can print them out. I believe it is in the preop section that says questions to ask or look in the search section. If you can't find them, ask a hostess!
I am feeling pretty good and grateful only what was damaged was removed. All else was left intact.

Desperately seeking my Mind.....

Thanks Viezel! I appreciate the concern. I have been to a few doctors over the years and nobody seems to know what the exact problem is. However they all agree my uterus is tipped. I think its something to do with my tubes since I never had problems before my tubal ligation. The dr said he would remove them if he saw anything that may be causing me trouble. Of course your right I should keep whatever I can. I think I'm just venting. lol Also, I took your advise and contacted a hostess. I could'nt find the list of questions to print. But with the way my brain is right now it was probably right in front of my face a few times haha...I'm hoping tomorrow will set my mind at ease...Bye for now.

Blessings,
