3rd surgery since June

I don't even know where to begin. First of all, this place has been a source of comfort and information since my TAH/BSO on 8/14/00. This all began in May when i went for my annual checkup with my gyn. He felt 'something' on my right ovary and ordered an internal ultrasound, then called to say i had a 'suspicious mass'. Scared us to death. Had a laproscopy on 6/29 to remove right ovary, but discovered i had stage IV endometriosis (no wonder i was in so much pain)....everything was stuck together and very enlarged.... but thank God, no sign of ovarian cancer....so scheduled my hysterectomy for 8/14, dr said this was a 'no brainer'...endo was everywhere, around my bowel, bladder, etc.... I have been going to same dr for 13 years, delivered both of my children, so I have a great deal of trust in him... Surgery went well, was only in the hospital 2 days.....was 7 weeks post-op, feeling pretty well, then woke up one night in horrendous pain and vomiting...this was on 10/3....was rushed to the emergency room on 10/4 and it was discovered i had a bowel obstruction/hernia that was caused by a hole in the lining around my intestines (did someone not stitch this properly)???...had surgery on 10/6 to repair this, thank goodness, surgeon was able to fix it through a laproscope or i would be back to square one in recovery... now...for the questions....how am i supposed to feel at this point?? sometimes i feel out of control....i am extremely tired and feeling like i'll never be the same....i feel like i was rushed into the decision of having the hysterectomy, should i have tried other solutions first??...I am currently on .5 mg of Estrace, was off hormones for 6 weeks, how do I know this is enough? Has anyone else had another surgery so soon after their hysterectomy? and when does the energy come back? Sorry this is so long, but thanks for letting me vent....i do feel better knowing there are others out there with questions and problems too... God bless all of you..

3rd surgery since June

Rose,

Hello. I am sorry that you have had to go through so much. Recovery from this surgery takes alot of time. You aren't very far into recovery, and with having to have a second surgery, I am sure that set you back some too. It took me months before I got back the energy level that I had before.

I wish you the very best.

3rd surgery since June

Thanks Lisa....I know there are others on here who have lots of problems too, and it is nice to know that others care how we feel and what we are going thru...My wonderful husband of 18 years has been a dear, but it is hard for him to understand how I feel. I feel bad for my children, too, ages 13 and 10...I can only tell them 'mommy won't always feel this way and be so tired'... I just tell my husband... 'I don't feel like myself'...best way to describe it. Guess I am impatient, i was feeling so well after my hysterectomy, now this surgery has thrown my for a loop....also was only on my estrace for a week when i got sick, then they didn't give me anything in the hospital for a week, and just started it again when i got home from bowel surgery....i know this stopping and starting of hormones has messed with my emotions too....guess i just need to be patient with this too....Lots of life's lesson to be learned here!! lol.....
