UTI/Bladder infection/Kidney infection
Hey ladies,
I am 4 weeks post op LAVH/BSO and since friday pm have had terrible midsection pain, like contractions almost. Very distended, walking all hunched over again. Went to md, he was in surgery, asked for a urine test anyway, have lots of blood and white blood cells in urine, great day to start back to work 1/2 days. THis pain is worse than surgery. It feels like intestinal torsion or something. Anyone have this? I go in the am and I'm guessing antibiotics. HELP!!!

UTI/Bladder infection/Kidney infection
Hi Debbie,
Having blood and white cells in your urine is indicative of an UTI/bladder infection. I don't understand why MD did not start you on antibiotics on Friday already? Even if he was in surgery, his nurse should have reported those findings to another MD to cover you. I had an Anterior and Posterior repair 6 weeks ago and went home with a foley catheter. On day 7 I started with mild back pain and saw white shreds, red threads, and hazy urine in my catheter and tubing. I called the Dr. and reported this. I was told to remove my catheter, drink lots of water, cranberry juice and was scheduled to see him the next day. That was 10:00 am. By 6:00 pm my back was killing me with contraction like pain that was the worse I ever had. My family MD ordered me an antibiotic pill which I took with no resolve. The Percocet I had left from my surgery didn't touch it...for I had taken 4 of them in 4 hrs. I walked hunched over in pain and there wasn't a position comfortable enough for me. By 2:00 am I was in the ER getting massive doses of IV antibiotics and fluids, along with strong IV narcotics to control the kidney infection I got from the UTI. Having an UTI is nothing to fool around with as the bacteria have the potiential to migrate up into the kidneys, which filter your blood, which cause the bacteria to get in your bloodstream causing blood pressure to lower, fever, chills, and sepsis to your whole body. I don't mean to scare you, but it can be serious sometimes. The infection then can scar the kidney filters. Your distention may be caused from not emptying your bladder fully with urination. Are you going frequently? So get in to see the guy as soon as possible. I hope all goes well for you. Just keep drinking lots of water to keep flushing out the bacteria from your bladder, that may help. Dizziness, fever, bloody urine, chills...go to the ER! Let us know how it goes. Blessings, Mary

UTI/Bladder infection/Kidney infection
Update,
Yep full blown kidney infection. Had rocephin shot and started cipro again!!! LAVH/BSO 12/15/03, will I get a yeast infection now? MD said it was not related to surgery but since i have never had one before, I don't see how it cannot be!!!
