Home and the Aftermath Dilemma's
I hope everyone is doing better then I am..lol. I am very very sore and very very tired of it. I know this too shall pass, but I am just really trying to think about that.I am in so much pain now, seems hard to stay focused. And the medicines are making me more emotional, the whole teary eyed crying bit.I am as my Dh says, "A very tough woman", and that he knows I will get through this.Sometimes I think he is crazy..lol.Trying to keep my humor and not fighting the tears are my keys to my sanity. I cannot wait till I am somewhat me again. It's the Helplessness that makes you feel at odds with yourself. That feeling I get every morning when I wake up, that "Oh God here we go again", kinda feeling. That, "why me again" and the "when will it get better" moments.Thats what they are, Moments in time, longing to be history in my mind. all Sisters who have ever felt this way tell me, "This too shall pass Sunny".And I believe them. For that is my favorite verse and strong belief. The Lord said it, and I am living it.Thank you all for being so great.Being yourselves, and showing me that.We are all here for a reason, and whatever it may be for each of us...it's a wonderful thing...Gentle Hugs, X X Ta~Ta Sincerely,~Sunny~

thinking of you
Sunny-
I am sorry you are a "bundle" of emotions right now. Your body is going through alot. I have cried more than usual over the last couple of days (TAH 10/11). I know it is the hormones going crazy till my body readjusts to what has just happened. I let myself cry knowing that is it just hormones and being tired.
I too am tired and sore. Find something to do just for YOU. I had dh rent movies this weekend. Of course, I kept falling asleep so I had togo back to were I was before and it took forever to get through a movie, lol. Just don't rent too many comedies, I made this mistake and my tummy is paying for it!
I came home on Friday and felt pretty good. Today lack of sleep caught up with me (I have not slept continuously through one night since surgery), I stayed in bed till noon and then went back to bed again.
Soon you will feel like a better version of yourself again, with no more nasty periods to dictate your life and no more pain. Hang in there and cut yourself a break. You body has just been through major surgery and you need to be patient and give it time to heal.

PRE-OP JITTERS
HEY CAT, My name is Karen and I live in Biloxi, Ms. My sureger a TAH is scheduled for Oct 20th. I am really nervous and would like some advice on the surgery and what I can expect. I am going to have an abdominal surgery and was told it was much harder and longer to recover. I am a florist and I want to return back ASAP. I dont know if i can handle staying home for that long. I have 5 kids ranging from ages 4 to 14. I sometimes feel unsure if i can handle it or not. I know a lot of it is just waiting, its driving me crazy. Im wondering if im doing the right thing. I am 35 years old and i know i do not want more kids, so why should it bother me. Ive never had any kind of surgery before and im scared to death. I just want my life to be the same as it was before. Ive read good and bad stories but i seem to just focus on the bad ones. Any advice. Thanks , Karen (kkscarlet@aol.com

Karen, I too have all the children I'll ever want and yet am feeling sad over the fact that the is so definitive. I think it is just a normal part of the whole process of accepting the hyst and waiting. And, like you, I can't wait to be myself again,
Take care,

I am also 35 and had a TVH on Oct. 6th. This was my first surgery, too, so I know how you feel. I have 2 children, ages 12 and 15. I am not sad at all about not having more children since my husband had a vasectomy 12 years ago. I had those pre-op feelings that I might not live through surgery, but all in all I still had peace about it, because I knew where I would be if I died(Heaven). You will have pain, but it can be controlled with pain medicine. Be sure to take it regularly and sleep as much as you can. You'll be surprised how soon you'll feel better. Just hang on to your Maker's hand, and you'll make it just fine.
Wishing you the best!
TVH, kept right ovary

I had a TAH on 9-28-00 and I am doing fair I guess. I overdid things last week so I have to take things easier. You will need help for 2 weeks, 3 if you can get it. I have 5 children and realized I can't do everything. Their ages are 11,9,8,8 and 7(2 adopted). My Dh is great and making sure I don't over do. I was told no lifting over 5lbs for 6 weeks and no strenuous activity. Walking is good and get plenty of rest, rest, rest! And put your feet up when you can. Make sure to drink plenty of liquids, it helped me with the constipation and have gasx on hand.
