Jody, your second post appeared while I was writing. What does the special K diet consist of? I've heard it talked about and advertised but haven't paid much attention.

Thanks

Sorry bookfairy! Somehow I missed responding to you. Glad you are slowly up and about, but remember that it will be a while before you're back to normal--right now "normal" may well mean having to take a long nap after doing some small errand. Even aside from surgery itself, I'm told that the body takes a while to get rid of the after effects of anesthesia. A nurse told me once that if you went under general anesthesia for 5 minutes and then were brought back, with any surgery being done, it would still take your body a while to get over it. So take your time!

Blessings.

Hi everyone!!!

It's cold cold cold in NJ. I was a little chilly last night even with my down comforter, so I woke up several times. Went right back to sleep though. knows better than to bug me!!!

Jody and Melissa: not an M.D., but I totally agree with Nurse Melissa's reading of the scan......how's it going without the cigarattes? Melissa - congrats to middle DD for her making Dean's list!! Keeping that scholarship is wonderful.

No delayed opening. Our new superintendent is from Bufallo and he can laugh at this amount of cold and snow!!!! He was up at 4 AM making the determination, though. He could have been second on our thread! Oops...no men allowed.

My office is actually very warm because the sun is coming in. Too warm, in fact. Hard to believe it's -20 with wind chill.

My scale is moving down.....I'll report a number loss when I'm confident it's real. OP today. I know I won't be so diligent when DH and I go on our little getaway next week, and we have a bar mitzvah to attend tomorrow night, so that won't be perfect, either. But I'll definitely get my workout in tomorrow morning.

jrothhaar (sorry can't remember your name - is it Jean ? sorry the brain fog is attacking me) I have a medical dictionary right beside me(and its not my brain too!) .. so if you want me to translate - PM me and I'll do my best !

Bookfairy - please just remember you only have one time to recover, and that time is now .. take it easy take it slow & I hope all goes well for your 2 week appointment ....

Is your Special K campaign the same as ours ?? Drop a jeans size in a month ?? You have to eat Special K breakfast for breakfast and lunch ...

Weetabix is bran, in like a little block, you can add milk or whatever to it, very bland but "goes in rough comes out smooth" (as they say !!!!!!!!!!) you will definately have it out there it's in a bright yellow box .. although it's probably called something different .. "....bisk" maybe ???

Melissa - brain ain't engaged with thought processes at the moment (just finished work!).. but sounds kinda OK - I'll leave it to PAT !!!!!

Bung, in that context means throw it quickly .. ie., bung it in , another context is like a cork for wine bottles (bung something up to stop it leaking) ... and another 'bungged up' means full of a cold .. ie., you can't talk through your nose ... in relation to the rear area .. thats a new one on me .. please please fill me in (Im guessing here - and those thoughts aren't pleasant!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right gotta fly - BEEN OP ALL DAY - just going to the gym ...

s to everyone I've missed ...

Afternoon ladies. Thanks for the congrats on the weightloss this past week. I'm tacking it on to my running told which will get donated to the website.

Today has been OP, but not on schedule. Meaning I eat 6 times a day spaced throughout the day ... I had to teach a class this morning and my snack and lunch stacked up. UGH!

Tonight will be Curves. Sister Katie, I do see a difference between the staff interaction at the Atlanta facility and the Knoxville facilities I use. In Atlanta they are much more interactive.

Hmmm, another thing that's been cropping up is I'm checking out different gyms. I've been to two so far and haven't asid "that's it for me" just yet. My JC consultant teaches aerobics at a Lady's Fitness Express no clue if it's the same as ladies workout express), She'll be bringing me the class schedule and a 3-day pass when I see her next week. This weekend I'll look to see if I can find any others in the area. It's proving to be a challenge.

That's all for me that fit to report. Oh, Desk, your nuts. Marl- having a hard time imagining a nun being thrown out of anywhere for rowdy behaviour!!

Where it's cold, stay toasty warm!

Good morning! (Well, it's morning here for at least another few minutes!)

Shirley, I won the auctions on ebay for Weight Training for Dummies and Fitness for Dummies but I haven't received them yet - should be here any day. I'll let you know what I think of them. Good idea - checking on amazon, thanks!

Melissa, lol - strangle the cats! I know EXACTLY what you mean!

Bliss, I tried scanning a text document into Word - it works but didn't let me alter anything.

Emily, good luck with the boyfriend meeting. BTDT! Hope everything clicks!

Desk, which book are you listening to? I'm reading Talisman.

BSQ, WoooWooo!!!!!

Big s to everyone else - it's errand day and I'm running. Been OP, haven't had time to think about dinner so that will be a challenge for the afternoon.

Have a great day and stay warm - I vote we jump on the lear jet and go visit Ann!

Special K plan is bowl for breakfast and lunch for 3 weeks and drop a pant size - 6 pounds. This is day 4 I think and I feel a difference. I was supposed to get weighed and measured at the gym this week but postponed til I am confident that I have lost at least a couple pounds. I have been eating the regular Special K but next box will be with the sliced strawberries. I have to be careful though because I am lactose intolerant and don't like the special milk for that and have to balance out what it does to my stomach but in all to lose at least even 5 pounds is worth the stomach irritation for me.

Late Afternoon Greetings!

Almost time to close up shop here. Got a lot more done today than I expected to. Big projects ahead, but I think I can stay on top of things in the next couple of weeks.

Pat, I assume you are speaking of the superintendent in Newark? Yeah, this is just a little cold snap to someone from Buffalo.

Toni, I'm thinking from your description that our Shredded Wheat is similar to your Weetabix. It certainly is great for the plumbing.

Bobbie Sue, you mentioned eating 6 times today. I've heard that that is actually a better way to lose weight, eating a lot of small meals, because the metabolism is always in high gear. Not sure if I have it expressed right scientifically....Pat?

BSQ, you can't imagine a rowdy nun? Trust me, there are "reserved" and "rowdy" everywhere, including monasteries. Makes life interesting!

Sandi, I second your motion to get on the lear jet and head to Ann's. Ann...what's for dinner?

Jody, thanks for the clarification on the special K diet.

See you all tonight. I've suggested to the srs I live with that we watch the video "Misery" with Kathy Bates and James Caan tonight. I LOVE that movie! Perfect story and setting on a cold winter's night after a storm!

See you later.

Blessings.

marl - try this website www.weetabix.co.uk this is weetabix .. in the same league as shredded wheat BUT completely different texture ... just found a picture on the web of people having a competition eating weetabix dry (fraid I couldn't copy the link ..) ... this is hilarious - you can eat it dry (I used to put jam on it as a child ....) but the best is with warm milk and it melts .. yummy for your tummy on a cold winters day !

Hope you are all well

We have weetabix in Canada to so the USA must have it.

Okay I am off

Take care

Katie
