Yes I have been bothered by gas and bloating with my fibroids for the past year. My uterus is 16 week size. My stomach is always swollen and I have been trying to lose weight also. I lost twenty pounds on the Atkins diet but my stomach is still puffy. I have three fibroids that they can see. I think the gas is just normal as I have it really bad at times. Fibroids take up room and push on whatever is in their way. I am having my hysterectomy tomorrow so I will let you know. Take care,
Hiya suzzy, so sorry you are having to deal with this. I had this problem many times over. I was on a weightloss program during a year I had two surgeries for Fibroids. For me, it was 5lbs that would be on one week, off the next and back again. Each time this pattern surfaced, the fibroids had come back.
Each Fibroid bout not all my symptoms were the same, but the bloating and backache were.
As Bon mentioned, they are pushing or crowding everything. Once the fibroids are gone you should notice an improvement.
I too have these symtoms. The extreme bloating, gas and weight gain are so frustrating, but seem to be a common problem I have been finding when talking to others.
Hopefully, these will lessen greatly after the surgery.
I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO and bladder lift on Jan 30. Not good timing as I am a tax specialist, but I have a cyst, fibroids and my CA125 level is elevated. Doc wants it all out now. Best safe than sorry.
Many of my questions have been answered by experienced "sisters". Thanks. I am sure to have more questions and need moral support in the weeks to come.
I also have these symptoms. I gained 10 lbs. for no apparent reason, and my ultrasound showed at least 3 fibroids, largest 20cm. Tonight I went to a dinner party and ate more at one time than I am used to. My stomach must be pressed upon because a lot of my dinner came back up when I drank a glass of water. I had to come home. I can't wear regular clothes. My abdomen is enormous.
I was originally scheduled for TAH 2/11 and postponed it, but now I am thinking about rescheduling it and getting it over with ASAP.
Oh yeah! I had my TAH on 12/12 for one huge fibroid and I noticed my belly went down as soon as I woke up. I noticed it both above and below my belly button ( the fibroid was pushing everything upward). It feels so good now....no more gas, bloating, and even heartburn. The backache is gone, too. So glad I went through with the TAH. Good luck to you all.
I have been swelling up like a balloon! Besides the gas and pressure....my legs look like trees!LOL I joke and say, that I am due on the 21st.....it keeps me from going crazy.
I can not wear any of my jeans or tighter clothes, it is stretch paints for me
It's so nice to read that we are not alone!!! I am new to this and never knew my gas and weight gain could be due to the fibroids! I sure hope so and that it will go away after surgery. Thanks to this wonderful board, full of info!
I wrote last week under "look pregnant" and received alot of interesting replies........try to read them. I have also gained about 10 lbs. recently and am constantly bloated. My stomach is bigger than it was when I was 5 months pregnant, I have supposedly one fibroid and I am scheduled for L.S H on April 27th. That is another 3 months for my belly to really swelly. If I could -I would go in tomorrow!
I ama thin girl by nature about 122lbs and 5 feet 6 inches tall. I always wear tight fitting clothing and actually had nothing loose in my closet until I went to my mothers house the other night and borrowed her clothes!!!!!
Also at times when I am driving my car I feel alot of pressure under my rib cage....If I eat too much at a meal I have to run home to put on sweat pants. To add to my troubles I often have trapped gas which I thought at first was a heart attack.
Lets hope that this all disappears as soon as we have our surgery.
