Belly Bulge still..and more...

Ok, I am brand new to this so I hope you all can help me out here. I had my TVH on August 6, 2003 (February 6 will be 6 months post op) due to what ended up being because of continual bleeding, 2 fibroids, adenomyosis, endometrial hyperplasia and cysts on my ovaries, (all of which I was told except for the one ovary, would have definitely turned to cancer. Anyways, I feel pretty good overall, but the belly area is really quite frustrating to me.....I still look, more so in the afternoon and evening like I am 5 or 6 months pregnant and very uncomfortable and sometimes even hard to breath right. At times it seems like I should not even eat because I fill up so fast and get very uncomfortable. I am not yet back into the clothes I wore prior to the surgery. I am not taking any HRT and really don't care to, have the hot flashes and night sweats but seem to be dealing with them ok, along with the not sleeping very long. I wake like every 1 1/2 to 2 hours throughout the night, doze on and off all night long. If this sounds familiar to anyone else out there please let me know. I am open to talking with anyone.......
Thanks and God Bless !! Take care of YOU!

I know you're frustrated..5 months seems unreasonably long
to endure swelling....many of the girls on this site seem to have
the same problem
.i had two c-sections and never
swelled like i did with the hyst...swelled everywhere!!!
legs and belly bloat lasted for months. prematurely gave
away clothes i thought would never again fit.
well, my size is back to a zero, but have vascular fluid on
legs, sometimes water thickness on waist and hips--hate it.and still (2 years later) get belly bloat that comes and goes.
Like you, I had many times such a full feeling--it was difficult to
breathe...Best help came from a wonderful acupuncturist who
needled lymph nodes in the groin to stimulate circulation.
You might also try taking enzymes---also good to reduce
swelling. Hope you get some relief soon!

I don't have any answers for you, but did want to let you know that you are definitely not alone. You are still fairly early in your recovery. I know 5 months seems like a long time, but when you think of how much "work" was done, it isn't.

I am currently 15 months post op from a TAH/LSO and continue to have . I still can't wear my pre op clothes and have that full feeling constantly. I am also still experiencing pain in my LLQ so, have an appointment with my Gyn on 2/10 to discuss this.

I guess my advice would be that if you are uncomfortable about it talk to you doc. Hang in there.

me too

Just to let you know, I have been searching these posts trying to find someone exactly as you have described. My swelled belly is sooo bad, I am almost 6 months post op. I am exercising and really watching what I eat, I need to lose a few pounds, and I am getting soooo discouraged!! It seems as tho my belly is getting bigger! I keep trying and giving up! Thinking of giving myself more time for this swelly belly to go away, so i can feel like I am losing some weight. I see a difference in the other parts of my body!! I dont know, WILL IT EVER GO AWAY!!!!!!

take care,
dee

Well, you also being 6 mo. p o is a good thing to hear......I have wanted to speak with others around the same length of time as myself. Yeah, the sw.b. is definitely there, and I had a TVH/BSO (which some say the sw.b does not happen with , ha ha) I too have exercised and watch what I eat but by the end of the evening it is right back to looking like I am 5 or 6 months pregnant again. Very discouraging, but as I read more on this site I am finding that eventually this will go away. In the morning, it is much lower and smaller in size but due to the exertion throughout the day it seems to really expand and that is due to not being healed. We just have to take things slow. It can take up to 2 years to be back to "normal" from what my Dr. says. There is much more going on in there even though we can't see it on the outside.....My surgery was 8/6/03, how about yours? Thanks for writing and please continue!

Belly Bulge still..and more...

After my hyst it took a really long time to get my belly not as big (never was small) now I just had another surgery and its back in its balloon shape. My daughter had to get me jammies 2 sizes bigger and we refer to my gut as the triplets!
I was watching my food and exercising before this...now am eating whatever anyone makes and am sooooo limited on movement. I know it will take awhile but hopefully in the long run it will be worth it. For now me and the "kids" are one.

Isn't it amazing what is involved???

Belly bulge.....and more

LaurLaur,
Your story of the twins, reminds me of my pre surgery days and the of the surgery. My DD's and I had this saying of the twins and when the surgery was over I awoke to balloons on "congrats on the twin delivery". Too funny to me, I really feel as though you have to find the humor in all of this and a lot of other things in life in order to get through things the best way possible.
Good luck in your new recovery period and take care of YOU!
