Lack of libido

Can someone please tell me if this is normal after hyster, it has been two years since my op and my libido has been slowly declining , as i am only 41 and previously had a normal sex life this is worrying not only me but my husband too ( he has been very understanding but i can see he is nearly out of his tree!) I am also suffering from bad depression, but i am not sure if this is due to my op or the fact that my 19 year old son is a heroin addict..All advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks Luroda

Lack of libido

Hello sister,

((((BIG HUGS))))))

I am not the best at knowing if what i am saying is the right thing. So please bear with me--

I am so sorry for what you are going through with your son. I hope that he will get the help he needs and get his life back on track.

A few weeks ago we had a problem with our 14 year old daughter... not drugs but still it was a major change in her. We knew something was wrong, but it took us about 3 weeks to finally fugure most of it out and then the devil was in all the details that unfolded after that. At first--before we had actual proof of her wrongdoing --we talked about it my DH and I. Then as th days rocked and rolled on and more junk came out that sheild of togetherness that we had shown to her was crumbling under the stress and strain. It had fianlly caught up. I would definetely say it affected our sex life b/c we would argue and go to bed angry. I was depressed over it all. We made some tough decisions that she was not pleased with at all but we stuck to it and together in it and now 4 weeks later things are so much better--I have my daughter back granted what she did to herself will always be with her but she is sweet again, nice and respectful. and I have to say even more loving and giving of herself. What she did makes me sad but we told her at the start that she had not done anything that she could not be forgiven for and that in spite of her bad choices we still love her and believe that a good person lives inside her...

Okay thats me I ramble--- So sorry sister

I truly believe that these kind of situtaions can cause a great deal of stress in all areas of your life.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and I am hoping for the best for you all.

Lack of libido

Luroda,
I am sure this can be a real problem. In fact it scares me to death. I am 44 and had my op in May. I would hate to have my libido slow down on me.
I am wondering if you still have your ovaries? If you do they may be shutting down. You should check with your DR.
If you don't have your ovaries, your hormones may not be serving you right. You should check with your Dr.
Also you may want to post this over in the Hormone Jungle and also in the Road Less Traveled. These 2 forums will have ladies who are more likely to have experienced these things.
The ladies here in post op are generally up to 4 months post op.
If you have any questions for me please feel free to email me.
Blessings and let us know what you find out!

First I would call the dr. and make an appointment to have hormone levels checked, maybe something is out of whack.
Second, you are under a great deal of stress with what you are going through with your son, and stress alone can do a number on your sex drive.
Depression doesn't help either. I would call the gynecologist first and have levels checked out, and also I would look for a support group for parents of addicts, so that you can share with others who are going through the same things.
Best of luck to you.
